An "offset" tool?
I'm using Xara Photo & Graphic Designer 6 and I'm having fun with it. But there's one functionality I can't seem to find that I really need. I'm a CAD operator (and have that mentality), and I really want my AutoCAD Offset tool. It allows you to copy a line or shape a certain distance away. More importantly, if you "offset" a shape inside or outside it's boundary, it automatically makes the new shape equidistant from all the borders.
Here's a picture of what I'm trying to do. Attachment 92510
Anyway to do it in Xara P&GD6?

Re: An "offset" tool?
Hello marosell, welcome to TalkGraphics.
In Xara Photo & Graphic Designer 6 you can setup a Duplication distance. It can be in the same page units you have setup, I use pixels.
You can setup up a Horizontal (X) and/or a Vertical (Y) distance.
Once setup you can use Ctrl+Alt+D to duplicate an object with the preset distance.

Re: An "offset" tool?
Duplication isn't what I'm looking for. Duplication makes an exact copy of the object. What I'm looking for is for the shape to change based on the distance from the original. Notice that in the picture above, the duplicated line is different from the original; all arcs have smaller radii and the line lengths are smaller. "Offset"ing inside an object makes an inlay, "offset"ing outside an object makes what you could call a border. Like the matt of a picture frame, the dimensions will be different and the object won't be exactly proportional, but all lines of the object will be equidistant from the original.

Re: An "offset" tool?
I think the closest tool to do what you are asking is the Contour Tool. (Not available in Web Designer).
You could convert this to Editable Shapes, then use the Shape Tool to Break at Points and delete the un-needed portion.

Re: An "offset" tool?
As Gary said the contour tool is what you're looking for.
You can specify a numeric value or do it on screen.
Be sure to press the inset path button or you wind up with some kind of blend.

If you press it before engaging the command it will stick for the rest of the session.
There is no offset tool that works on open paths exactly like the Autocad one.
