Removing shiny spot from portrait photograph
Hi all.
I'm using Xara Xtreme Pro 5.1.2
I have a portrait photograph that is fine in most respects but there is a shiny patch (light reflection) on the forehead and on the nose.
Is there an effective way to remove or tone down the shine without interfering with the rest of the photograph?
TIA
- Billy

Re: Removing shiny spot from portrait photograph
I use Xtreme (XDP) all the time for this kind of thing. I actually prefer it to Photoshop, although I confess that I'm no expert on the latter. By using a collection of shapes with linear fades and utilising the eye dropper to match with surrounding colours, then feather and adjust the transparency you can achieve an airbrushing effect that seems to work.
I found this shot of Hayden Panettiere on Google and applied the technique to demonstrate (don't think that she actually needed it, as she looks gorgeous just the way she is) but you can see that it can be used for highlights, dark patches, you name it. Also attached the file so you can pick it to bits if you like.
