Looking for tutorial and/or example
Not sure what to call it.. I am looking for an example or tutorial for a hole in a paper that has burst through. Looks kinda like a star shape with curled edges. Hope that make sense.
I searched the forum for "burst" but didn't get good on-topic result.
Thanks!

Re: Looking for tutorial and/or example
I have a method for doing this in Xara but it's getting very late here I'll put together a tutorial in the morning.

Here's one I did some time ago.

Re: Looking for tutorial and/or example
Thanks so much. So glad you folks understood what I was looking to accomplish.
Frank, yes. That is the idea.
Thank you for the file Christine. I am tearing it apart now to learn the construction of the hole.
(And bonus roses to play with!)
Frances, If you have a tutorial or make one, I would be tickled.
I found a couple files made in photoshop online, but would really like to learn to make this in Xara myself using vector not plugin effects.
Re: Looking for tutorial and/or example
To get the torn edge:
Create the shape
Clone the shape - no fill - add a line, change line to spheres in the Novelty lines, set line size to suit the shape
Convert line to shape - ungroup twice and add shapes
Select both shapes and subtract shapes

Re: Looking for tutorial and/or example
I haven't forgotten you Samantha, I've been so busy today. But I will get it done.
Re: Looking for tutorial and/or example
I check on the thread in case a tutorial is posted. Until then, I have pulled apart the sample I was given.
At this point I am comfortable modifying that file, but not sure If I could make one myself yet. but eventually.... :)
Had a some strange responses from my latest install XDPX9. Was working on some basic square layered graphics for the web and they were changing from revision to revision. The white background rectangle disappears, replaced with "default bitmap". Even had to go back to previous version and come forward a couple times so my "learning/play" time was cut short.

Excellent information Christine, thank you.
After playing around I found you can also apply the same technique to make interesting borders effects using other line shapes and obviously brushes you've created yourself. (see examples below) :D
samrc - sorry not sure what could be happening I'm afraid. Might be worth making a separate post rather than getting your question lost in this one. :)
