In case you haven't already tried, at least r907 does support saving and it does work, I can confirm.
This is the first time I have ever used a Xara product and I can say it is one of the best graphics programs out there. When the GNU/Linux port is complete it will be the best Free/Open vector graphics program available for Linux, IMHO.

I have just downloaded the lates Klik version r 951, which not only saves .xar files without problems but also exports to bitmap flawlessly!
Excellent. I can now start using Xara LX full time...
The speed at which you implement new features is amazing. Thanks.
BTW will Xara allow photoshop plugins to work on bitmap layers?
