A really evocative work of art. Wonderful detail. The earth below just melds it all together. The imagination fires up and goes with the planes.
A great piece of work, gray.
Beautiful.
That looks so real! The plane in the foreground almost pops out.
Incredibly good work not only in using your artistic skills to
portray a critical moment in history, but also to provide a stirring
salute to those who took part in the scene which you illustrated.
You're the man, Gray.
Graham - Can you post a few close ups, say of the cockpit, tail, and wings. The detail is amazing and I'm afraid this small size is not doing it justice.
Fabulous image.
Excellent. I immediately thought about Geoffrey Wellum and his book "First Light" (an amazing read).
Thanks spondoolix, Rik, Boy, iagman, Gary, Paul for your comments.
Gary I've posted some closeups below.
Cheers.
My new favorite from you. Love the light on the foreground plane. Yes, definitely this is your best!
Clouds, ground, overall ambiance - lovely :)
Magnificent!
Thanks Meb, Ron for taking a look.
The detail on the cockpit is incredible. The scrapes on the paint, and everything else is unreal. You're the Ron Duke of aircraft. :)
That's really cool Grahm. You have done so many exceptional pieces, but this may be my favorite.
That's a superb piece of work Gray.
The lighting and atmosphere you've created is exceptional as is the detail on the planes; can't imagine how long it took to complete.
Overall this definately has the wow factor. Thanks for sharing.
Regards
Su
This is my favortite of your drawings as well, beautifully done.
Derek
Gary, Thanks again.
Larry, Su, Derek, thanks so much for your kind comments.
Really amazing!!!!!:-O
The spitfire was the perfect example of form and function and you have captured it perfectly.
Thanks logomount, skech.
You're right skech, the Spitfire is one of those ageless designs that never get old.
Very nice work, working on my own spit for some time now....never seem to have time to do the fun things these days (think ill give that up now...lol) brilliant work:D
That is seriously good. Maybe you could try adding some overlay effects to the image to make it look like an old war torn photo or a frame from some aged video footage, not to replace the original of course, just to play around with it.
Thanks TXalba. Don't give up on that Spitfire. They sometimes take months to complete. I hope you post it when completed. I'm looking forward to seeing it.
Thanks for the suggestion, xtom. I hadn't thought about making it look like an old photo.
Gray. I don't think you need to thank people for taking a look. We should thank you for continuing to share your amazing talent!
There's not a lot to say that hasn't already been said just Outstanding
Cool!
WOW
FAB
Thanks very much BR, Wrigley, nimrodor, Javier, Tabian for your comments.
As a total new commer to Xara I look at these works and think how the heck do you do that, or even where to start!!!
If I started now I would be drawing a pension before I could hope to do anything as real as those...... hat off to you..
Thanks, but it just takes a little practice, Slug. The main thing is to have fun and the rest just falls into place. Xara is a great program to use for graphic work. It's very versatile in what you can produce with it.
