Bill, did you drew father christmas in xara?.
It is great Bill.
Best regards
Awww, excellent Santa and darling snow babies.
Thanks Javier and Nancy. I drew Santa (Father Christmas) several years ago. http://www.talkgraphics.com/showpost...7&postcount=11
Hello Soquili,
I like your Santa, it would make a nice Christmas card.
I'm afraid my submission for this month is not in the spirit of the season, for I have been on an eagle and skulls binge of late. I liked it better in black and white so I decided not to add color.
Thanks Buckobeck.
Nice details in your drawing. I agree with you it looks best as you have drawn it in black and white.
For the people that like outline (wireframe) views of drawings.
Welcome to TalkGraphics Buckobeck.
Very cool drawing.
A great drawing Bill and good for the start of the season.
Outstanding detail in your work, buckobeck.
I am still trying to show movement without using animation. Hope you like it, and it makes more sense than the other one I posted the other day on a different thread.
That looks very good Larry. May I suggest the transparency of the 'movement' objects be varied so the furthest from the present position be more transparent and each becomes more opaque as they near the present position.
what Bill said Larry - plus the transparency should, I reckon, only vary along the arc of motion and not along the length of the wand - and you might try putting in a motion line perhaps with a reflection starburst maybe
Thank you, good suggestion, I had thought of that too then sort of forgot about it.
Great work Bill on the Santa. Liked the movement Larry.
Rupert
Here is one following your suggestions along with a few other tweaks. I like this better. Hope you do too.
I think that works very well Larry.
Very Nice work BuckoBeck and Larry. I really like those.
Here is one from me that I just did. ;)
Well, still pretty much a newbie at Xtreme; just got through Gary Bouton's book. I'm still mostly using it for compositing and post work for 3D renders, but I'm sure I'll eventually come to use it for more primary drawing as I gain experience.
Here's a practice piece I recently finished. The figures were rendered in Lightwave 9.6, everything else was done in XXP 5.
Very well done Bill, Buckobeck, Larry, Bruce and Spinny. Here is my attempt. one is old line drawing and the other is ChristmasTree all of them are done in XXtreme. hope you like it. Regards BP
Those look really good Bruce, Spinny, and BP Thank you all for your comments and suggestions. Those made the final much better in my opinion.
I like the results Larry, great job.
Wonderful silhouette lady, cheerful Christmas tree and very cool dragon composition. I enjoy seeing what everyone else is doing.
Thank you Nancy.:o
Thanks Gary, Bruce, and Black Panther.
Nice work Larry, I think you captured motion well in you're final version.
Bruce, I like the silhouette, she's very pretty.
You've really got a handle on this Xara thing Black Panther, both pieces are very nice.
Mark
Hello fellow Xara users. I am really enjoying all the creativity expressed here, as well as the excellent advice and tips. Too cool. I've have a few works completed that were created in Xara so I thought I would post another. Working on a new eagle and skull, will post it soon.
PS. Is there a limit as to how many works you can post in an allotted amount of time?
Have a great day! Mark.
You guys are amazing. Simply amazing. I'm constantly dazzled by what this software can do in talented hands.
Just read a recent book about vector graphics. The authors state that they are inappropriate for photorealistic images and photo retouching. It's obvious from the book's content they're Mac heads and have never seen what Xara products can do. I think they'd get an education!
I agree Spinny, there is definitely some amazing talent here, and much to learn from people who are obviously passionate about Xara.
I'd say it's obvious from many of the posts on this site, and from personal experience that the authors of your book are wrong. Xara is capable of that and much more. Just curious, what book were you reading from?
PS. Don't forget to include yourself in that group Spinny!
Good day folks, Mark
For the curious it's called Vector Graphics and Illustration, A Master Class in Digital Image-Making, by Jack Harris and Steven Withrow, published last year by Rotovision SA.
In fairness it's quite a good book: the authors showcase a lot of brilliant vector-based work, and reveal a lot of technique and mindset for creating it. I was just put off by such a bald (and demonstrably false) assertion made on one of the very first pages. Someone I commented to about it opined they might be Mac-only artists and unaware of Xara at all. I looked more closely at the screen shots and yes, indeed, every one is obviously from OSX, and the software they mention is all Mac-flavored to some degree.
While I recognize that Macs are great--I even secretly pine for the disposable income to get one on the side--it just seems before you write a general-audience book you'd do your homework a little better, that's all. Xara is not exactly invisible, at least not once you get off your figurative porch and look around. ;)
A butterfly I drew during the year. I do apologise if I have posted it before.
Rupert
Nice skulls Mark! I think it would be fine if you posted several works here or you can post a new thread in the gallery too.
Nice butterfly too Rupert.
Thanks Bruce. Here's another completed Xara work. I call this one Talon X. I got to play with the bevel tool a lot making it.
Mark(aka buckobeck)
Lovely butterfly Rupert.
I like the skulls subject, as I love fantasy style art, and I think your style is excellent with much detail.
Thanks Burpee.
Thanks Nancy.
Rupert
Great Ilustrations, Mark and Rupert. Here is onther line drawing of a friend of mine, his girlfrind and baby. He asked me to draw this image, only in B&W outline. hope you like it. Regards BP
The amount of detail in the line drawing is amazing. Well done BP!
Stunning, BP. Marvelous work.
You guys are way too fast at putting out the work. What a great cross section of different styles.
I like your changes you made, Larry.
Nice piece of work with stand out colours, Bruce.
Good combination of 3D and Xara, Spinny. I wouldn't worry too much about what they say you can or can't do with vectors. Just go out and prove them wrong.
BP, super clean work as always. I like your line drawings.
buckobeck, those would look good as posters.
Needless to say I'm still working on the same piece I was working on last month, a pair of 1918 Hansa Brandenburgs. A little more progress, but still a lot of work to do on the main aircraft. The background is a mix of vector, raster. the aircraft are 98% vector. I hope to complete it in a couple more weeks.
Thanks Gray. How many hours do you typically put into a piece like that?
It's amazing work by the way.
Mark (aka buckobeck)
Thank you Nancy, Spinny and Gray..... Gray this is a Master Work, Outstanding. very well done. Regards BP
The level of detail is impressive Gray. Itīs looking gorgeous and the composition is great. Canīt wait to see the final version.
