Hi all,

Bump.
I'm to tired to answer at present but this thread was sinking unanswered. Someone please. Welcome by the way taleequale.
I don't really have any idea what the differences are taleequale.
Perhaps you could download both trials and do a comparison for the rest of us? :)
I'm downloading the Magix trial version now. However I will not have time to test it until tomorrow morning after I get home from work.
I'll report my findings as soon as I can.
I installed the Magix trial and have examined the program.
1. The trial download is 139MB in size. Much larger than the Xara Xtreme trial download. However the Magix download includes template files which are a separate download for Xara Xtreme.
2. The install takes much longer than the Xara Xtreme CD install. The Xara install includes the same templates, but also includes Fills and Fonts which are not part of the Magix trial install.
3. Magix Xtreme Designer is more like Xara Xtreme 3.2 rather than Xtreme 4.0.
4. Magix Xtreme does not have a Color Gallery and does not support named colors. There is no Name Gallery.
5. Magix Xtreme has fewer Export and Import formats. See the attached images for the Magix Export and Import lists.
6. Magix Photo Designer 7 is included in the install. This is also installed with Xara Xtreme 4.0
A few more points.
The Magix Xtreme Photo & Graphics Designer trial period is only 7 days.
Magix also places a XtremeStartup.exe in the notification area of the Taskbar.
It also installs a copy of Magix Photo Manager by stealth which remains installed even after uninstalling Magix Xtreme Photo & Graphic Designer.
MPM requires uninstalling separately.
PS: Oh yes, it also installs FireBird SQL Server - MAGIX Edition which is not removed by either of the previous uninstalls..
For anyone using the Magix Photo & Graphic Designer.
The next version of XaReg will detect and perform registry tweaks for those options that are the same as the Xara Xtreme options.
 an official leak!!?!
:DYes, you heard it here first. :D
There is another version of XaReg pending release.
Now if my Beta tester would stop finding errors it would be available soon?:D:D
Back to the original question:
what are the differences between Xara Xtreme and MAGIX Xtreme Photo & Graphic Designer?
I just checked with Xara Group. Most important difference is that Magix' Xtreme is available in several languages: German, French, Italian, Spanish and Dutch.
Apart from that the start-up splash screen in MAGIX Xtreme has some adjustable options. And MAGIX' Xtreme comes with a little utility ("Face perfector"?) that Xara Xtreme doesn't have.
Have any of you found the create brush fuction in Magix Xtreme.
I cant find it in my version 3.1.2778 Aug. 28 2007.( I know it's old :).
I can import brushes I made in Xara but cant make any in Magix.
Just wondering if this is fixed yet.
Hi John,
Good to see you again.
The trial version I am using 3.1.3567 Dec 17, 2007 does not have the create Brush feature.
This is the latest trial version available from the Magix web site.
I was under the impression that Xara Xtreme is also available in several languages? I know we have many members who post screenshots which show Xtreme in their language.
The Startup screen is a 'Project Wizard' which will launch different MAGIX programs based on what you want to do.

Magix Face Perfector is an AVON skin product :D
I can find no such named Utility with Magix Xtreme anywhere.
There are no photo tools with Magix Xtreme except for some of default (demo) plugins shipped with Xara Xtreme.
The other LE's are only available after launching Magix Photo Designer
Double-clicking a bitmap gives you the same XPE or Magix Photo Designer7 option that is shipped with Xara Xtreme 4.
It also comes with a re packaged Panorama Maker.
In Windows 7 - custom toolbar settings are not saved (Xtreme4 doesn't share this bug in Windows7)
No, Xara Xtreme is only available in English, but apparently NetJapan has developed a Japanse version. But Xtreme PRO is available in English, Spanish, French and German. However Xara doesn't actually sell the German / French / Spanish versions of Xtreme Pro, Magix do.
AFAIK the last officially statement from Xara Ltd. about Magix Xtreme Photo & Graphic Designer was from 2007:

This MAGIX release is based on the 3.2 core. What's the point comparing it to Xtreme 4 ?
John, talk of "cores" is perhaps meaningful to you as a developer but it doesn't say much to the consumer. The point is there is confusion in the marketplace when there are many related versions being marketed at the same time without much info on why one would choose one version over another.
Threads like this can help end some confusion (or add more) :D
Regards, Ross
I mean, you have to compare it to Xtreme3.2.
All the new features that were introduced with Xtreme4 are missing there of course.
I can't see who is comparing it to Xtreme 4 John?
Bill certainly mentioned is was like Xtreme 3.2 and my mention of it was only that Xtreme 4 included Magix Photo Designer as well.
It's very easy to see that MXPD is based on 3.2
Point is, should the OP choose to buy the Xara version over the Magix version, he will at this time only get Xtreme 4. Right?
Yes, Bill spotted it correctly.
This is an answer on this question:Quote:
...he will at this time only get Xtreme 4. Right?
In other words: everyone, since in context of this thread you can't get XXP3.2. ;)Quote:
I can't see who is comparing it to Xtreme 4 John?
Good. I'm glad you cleared that up for yourself John :D:D
:D
No, I'm not... I'm still confused... Isn't it obvious that Xtreme4 is Xtreme4 and MAGIX is mostly an Xtreme3.2? What's the point of comparing? How can be Xtreme4 worse than Xtreme's 3.2 twin brother? Isn't it obvious?
Hopefully Taleequale now knows that the Magix program is missing some features that were in Xara Xtreme 3.2 and is not comparable to Xara Xtreme 4.0 :)
