Like this "logo" so far, but currently
I'm at a loss as to what to add to it.

This is a little drawing I've been dabbling with on and off for a while in between other work. No single element is 'finished' and I've left out some layers as they are just outline at the moment. If there is another 'stop and post' in a month or so's time, it will still be this one in progress, as I don't seem to have had the time with it lately.

That's the spirit ... KEEP 'EM COMING.
Ken,
That logo conjures up images of a XaraX pot at the end of the rainbow ... I know ... too much Irish whiskey last night http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif
Dale,
A little bit of Athens ... in Texas. On the next pic you need to be lounging on a couch with two young ladies feeding you grapes http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
Derek,
Is that a suitcase on the back of your lizard?
JohnLogan,
Between you and Mike B. there's always a scantily clad digi-woman around somewhere http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
Jolande,
Very interesting work with the blends and transparencies ... you may be designing the new "slinky".
Ron,
I've never seen a glass ball sweat before ... it must have been cold and is warming up ... so where is the condensation http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif

I'm sure it will be wonderful, Derek! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif Even at this layout phase it looks more advanced than anything I would be able to do!
Ed, great idea for a monthly thread! This "STOP and POST" should officially become a regular at TG! It's always a treat to see what people are working/playing around with. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/cool.gif
Ron, your "sweating globe" is how I have been feeling lately. It's crazy how butter-based sauces catches up with you eventually! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/eek.gif
Thanks for sharing everyone! As I said above - it's always a treat! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
I haven't had much time for anything graphics related lately... But I have been working on these very simple semi-abstract designs for this web project that I have in the back of my mind.
This is one of many experiments. If you can't make it out... http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif It's a close-up-twisted-reclining-nude (in earth colours... http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)

GREAT POSTS ... Where are all you NEW members?
Gopher,
Someone broke your window http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/wink.gif Must have been one of Risto's mayo jars ... (reference to another offtopic post).
Risto,
I'm always amazed how you can take simple shapes and make them LOOK like something ... nice nude.
Albacore,
Congrats on the new job ... guess you'll be posting more often now http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/wink.gif
Carol,
Grandbabies ... aren't they great ... just spoil them and give them back ... cute kid!
Penny,
Your brushes look like yarn ... nice effect.
Simon,
Mr. Simple strikes again ... nice work.
dduran,
I like the style ... the blends and feathering gives an ACTION look to your work. I'd like to see more.

Okay Ken
Here's mine. It's for a web site I'm working on and the image is based on a very well known British WW1 recruiting poster of Lord Kitchener. It's for a flash site so unfortunately featherings out of the question.
Must say I love these threads, just seeing the diversity of Xarian art.

Hi Egg,
Looks good so far. Too much of one color to look great tho. Here is an idea. Take original recruiting art, drop colors to 16, do a trace, drop each color to a separate layer, key layers drop into flash...
Is it worth a try? Here is a quick test with a gif output from flash. 20 minutes...
-
Cheers John
However the trace method, whilst acceptable, creates vector images that are often twice the size of the original bitmap, which of course defeats the object of creating a vector in the first place. I wanted to create a vector fot 2 reasons. 1: To reduce the file size over a bitmap version 2: To animate the image in Flash. Trying to grab parts of a traced image which you desire to animate becomes very hit & miss etc, so I prefer just to draw it in the first place.
Egg
-
Hi Egg,
I would agree on a full color trace. Reduce the number of colors to a minimum then do a trace. The above example was a 29K jpg and a 12k animated gif. The gif is even bigger than the jpg (height X width).
-
Yes John,
That may be the case, but the original jpg was 49Kb, the Flash image (with the amimation is 16Kb) and a traced image at 16 colours is 64Kb without trying to grab certain parts for animation, and crap at that.

Ron,
Great chrome effect on the Ferrari horse ... is the neck supposed to be that long? The car is just gorgeous!
Dominique,
My wife has seen every episode of "Golden Girls" at least 10 times ... your dvd cover looks great.
Egg,
I love the style of "Lord Kitchener" ... I don't have the patience to do the type of detail you do ... nice work.
Meia,
Love your leaves. Are you going to keep the background white on the right side ... or is this just part of the process? I wonder what it would look like if the background on the right side were BLACK ... and the lettering was WOOD?
John,
Nice flower ... now draw the BEE http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Another finished logo - this one was a very tight brief, down to the colours. My creative input was essentially down to choosing a suitable font (Gill Sans Bold) and surgically separating the Isle of Anglesey from the rest of Wales. Clip-art... http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif Why can't they get it right...
