Again a woodcut from Albrecht Dürer
After allmost all Work for this Year is done, I decide to draw an other woodcut from Alfred Dürer with Xara. The hole drawing will be vectors an handdrawn by me.
Enjoy the progress I will update irregularly as I have time.

Re: Again a woodcut from Albrecht Dürer
Ernie I always like watching the progress you're making with your woodcut images, they are so detailed. I look forward to seeing your latest one progress.

Re: Again a woodcut from Albrecht Dürer
Hi ernie, I’m also really looking forward to seeing this progress. I think I’ve worked out which drawing you are following and it should be quite a challenge!

And here is the 2nd part after 3 days, where I work average 4 hours/day on the drawing.

It's not the world but the drawing has a ton of details and it is hard too draw all the details in Xara as vectors.
Here some stats about the ducument at this atate.
I hope you enjoy it.

Re: Again a woodcut from Albrecht Dürer
Thank You all.
It looks easy but it is a hard way to go.
On every finished drawing I say to me: no more, never I will do a new drawing!
But then is a time I think: let's try it again and I fool can't stop until the drawing is finished.
So remains curious how it goes on.
Servus from Bavaria,
Ernie

Re: Again a woodcut from Albrecht Dürer
A great thank you to New Mexico.
Thank you Gary. I think we "two" are the ones who create books with Xara print ready. Or You know others?
A compliment from You for my spleen is a honor.

Re: Again a woodcut from Albrecht Dürer
There are a few who do books in Xara but you and I have done the most I think

In this project I drew over 20 000 objects. The hole drawing is only pure vectors. It tooks me 2 month and two days to finalize it.
I do not work every day on it so I need for pure drawing time about 7 weeks.
Thanks for turn in this thread and for praising comments.
Thank You verry much.
Have a great Christmas and a happy New Eve.

Re: Again a woodcut from Albrecht Dürer
That is amazing Ernie. Well done. Mr. Dürer would be very impressed.

Thanks Gary!
It is difficult to say whether Mr. Dürer would be impressed.
Back then, none of the masters had an option like we use digitally: "Ctrl+Z".
One mistake and everything starts again!
After the original drawing, a mirror-inverted copy had to be drawn on the wooden block and
then all white areas, i.e. where there is no printing, were removed with scratch knives.
One mistake was fatal.
I have great respect for the old masters around Dürer.

Re: Again a woodcut from Albrecht Dürer
ernie, thank you for the Chtistmas e-card; it beats any commercial offerings.

Re: Again a woodcut from Albrecht Dürer
great respect to you ernie... even with ctrl+z you are still a master...
-
Re: Again a woodcut from Albrecht Dürer
@acorn: what card do you mean?
@handrawn: thanks and no I'm not a master in drawing. I only copying them.
The only master craftsman exam I passed was the master craftsman exam for industry printing.
In my young life as a graphic student I only learn the techniques but the prktice never ends.

ernie, I was appreciating your talent and sharing of your final presentation, which was far above what people usually get sent as an e-card!

Re: Again a woodcut from Albrecht Dürer
Fantastic work Ernie and thanks for showing all the progress steps and details.
It’s going to look great printed and framed next to the rhino from last year. I think you might have started a tradition for yourself.
Best wishes for Christmas and New year.

Re: Again a woodcut from Albrecht Dürer
Thank You Jonopen.
I will see if there is any interest in providing high resolution JPG of the Dürer drawings for self printing.
Who is interested please P.M. me and I will then post a link to the DropBox to download back.

I've done a few copies myself [not in xara] of Tenniel and Heath-Robinson, it is not as easy as you might assume at first, if you want it to look right
It is excellent practice and sure, practice only stops when you do; It also helps prepare you for inking a drawing in animation/cartooniing
Give me someone who can do it without a piece of paper [certificate], over someone with a piece of paper who can't do it, everytime.... ;)
