Wowslider Program not working with Premium 10

Anyone having issue getting wowsliders to work in Xara premium version 10? It works in ver9, but I can't get it to work in 10. It shows only a static image. I am looking to add a very simple slide show that fades with no navigation or buttons. I tried the nivo in Xara 10, but it has the rectangle and text caption at the bottom that I can't figure out how to delete without breaking the slide show. I would like to use wowslider with the flexibility and options, but not sure what I'm doing wrong (not too mention I paid for the software)?

Thank you so much for your help! I am really clueless on coding lingo so I apologize.... I looked at the code in the body of the placeholder and didn't see that exact same code you listed to replace. Below is my code. Would you be able to help me figure out which lines need to be fixed?

Hi
You can edit Nivo
Click the Nivo widget to edit then in the Pages and layers gallery - top right hand corner, click the symbol of locks to enable editing.
Open the layers - unlock as necessary - and you'll be able to remove any of the elements.

@skippastep - Check back. I know nothing about coding either. Let me try to get someone at Xara to have a look at this thread.

In your code where it says: <div id="wowslider-container1">

Change this to: <div id="wowslider-container1" class="slideshow 'xr_noreset'">

And it should work

Rob - I wonder if this should be a new thread. There are a number of applications that work like WowSlider (I use cu3ox and Visual Slide Show and these both require the change in code). I am sure others have similar situations.

As I understand it, they can't because of the changes made to the program for responsive website design.

I have just started to use Xara for my web designs so am a complete noob and still trying to find my way around.
I have been using Serif Web Plus and several external programs such as WoWSlider etc. so would find it very helpful to have a separate thread as suggested.

Probably because the widgets are 3rd party and the code is created by the 3rd party. Xara just helpfully puts the code into a placeholder for the user, it doesn't create the code.

I am a bit confused. Before I waste hours and/or money, are there any sliders that WILL work in Xara 10? If so which ones and what should be done to make them work? If someone can summarize this I think it would be helpful.

I think that question was answered :D, please refer to post #6 in this thread, you have to edit the html code and WOWslider will work. Can't answer about any other companies sliders.

Did not even need code mods. The insertion method is a bit different having to open the html and dig it out with copy and paste, BUT.

It works. Full screen gallery.

Actually it was said Wowslider SHOULD work but the response was that the instructions given for the Nivo slider worked. Another seemed to indicate that sliders don't work with 10 variants at all. So I am trying to sort it all out because this is one of those issues that will keep coming up and be scattered all over the place. So a simple list of "this is the slider I use that works in v10 with (or without variants if necessary) and this is how I got it to work." It could then be put as a sticky.

It's a bit confusing, we have just loaded a test site up to our server and can confirm it's working.

WOW Slider looks pretty good too.

This was done with NO code modification. Straight from slider output files into the placeholder.

I've been using wowslider for some years and have no problem with Designer X10pro.
I simply cut the code from the html file it publishes and put it in the placeholder.
I do find that the .xar file has to exported before it will work so a quick preview isn't reliable.

The most recent version, 5.6 of wowslider adapts well to mobile versions when making responsive sites; simply reduce the size of the placeholder for the smallest version. Also it responds to 'swipes' on browsers that use them. No extra coding or anything needed.

Do be reminded though, that xara wont load the wowslider engine and data folders for you ( hope someone can say I'm wrong with this )
I used Dreamweaver for years and simply upload with that even though it should really be pensioned off at the age it is.

Any of these slider/slide show applications that generate external folders, such as engine and data, reference these folders to play the slide show. So these folders have to be manually uploaded to your server (via ftp).

If you publish your site to a folder on your desktop, then copy and paste the external folders to this desktop folder, you can open the index file and preview the slide show.

Does this same thing work with Easy Accordian widget in Xara 10 Premium?

I think that when Xara added the ability to create variant websites in the 10 versions, the new code came into conflict with some of the other code and has caused some untoward things such as what you posted.

My only suggestion at this point is to create your slider in WD9 and then copy and paste it into WD10. I am not sure if this will work but it is worth a try.

My problem seems to be a little different. I can implement a Wowslider slideshow in Xara Version 10 Premium 64-bit, but it is not responsive. Wowslider slideshows should vary width and height as the browser window width is adjusted. This doesn't happen, and I've resorted to making various versions of slideshows and displaying them in my variants. This will mean a lot of work when it comes to updating slideshows in the future. Has anyone else seen this, and is there a fix coming? Thanks.

Creating a unique sized placeholder/slideshow for each variant is the correct way to go about it with Xara Web Designer.
Xara Web Designer is not a true RD enabled application. The WoW slider placeholder in each version is a fixed size (WYSIWYG) - as are all Xara created elements and pages.
