Two Animations

HI to you one and all.

As a newbie to Xara3d (A convert from Ulead :o ) I am trying to make up a simple video file to use in my intro to most of my films. What I would like to do is to have the word "Presents" come forward from the dark and roatate or tumble it's way forward.

I have managed to work out how to get it to come from the back as a dot to the front as well as how to twist or rotate, but what I need to know is how i can combine the movement forward with say a rotating or twist motion as well. Achieving two actions as the word comes forward.

Can it be done?

I was unable to achieve this completely in X3D. I had to create the Pulse in X3D (first animation) and then import that into Xara Xtreme and rotate each of the 40 frames in 9° increments to get the second animation:

I left it alone, waiting to find out if it could be done in X3D.

Xtreme and X3D can work together remarkably well.
Generally, anthing I output from X3D is edited in Xtreme - mostly to reduce the excessive number of frames.

Are you looking for something like this?

I was pretty sure it couldn't be done in X3D alone. I would always do stuff like this in Flash which handles such tweens with ease. However, what I often find is that combining X3D and Xtreme there's just about always a workaround if you're willing to get your hands dirty and look under the bonnet.

Remi -- I had not though about putting it into my video program to add further transitions from the first basic one. I use Vegas so maybe that will work as well.

Big frank -- I do not yet have xtreme but seems like it will have to be my next investment.

You will not look back - it is head and shoulders above the competition.

This is my attempt at the dual animation, again using both Xara3D and XaraXtreme. I used the Pulsate1 animation in Xara3D, and as I stepped thru the animation frames I also stepped the viewpoint vertically by 15 degrees, and exported the individual frames to XaraXtreme and built up the animation there.

If you have them, the easiest and quickest way would be to use Xara3D along with SWiSHmax.

Very nice, Mike. I cannot find anywhere in Xara 3D to change the vertical viewpoint by 15 degrees exactly. How did you do that?

Excerpt from Xara3D Help

Hold down Ctrl to move only horizontally. Hold down Shift to move only vertically.

If you want a precise rotation, use the cursor (arrow) keys on the keyboard to change the rotation in 1 degree steps. Ctrl+ the cursor keys gives 15 degree steps.

Alt-drag moves the objects relative to the background.

You can also rotate the objects around their center line. Either:

Ctrl+Shift drag on the right scrollbar

or hold down Shift and use the up/down cursor keys for 1 degree steps

or CTRL+Shift+up/down cursor keys for 15 degree steps.

Note that when the text is horizontally face-on, rotation around the center line gives the same effect as vertical movement.

Alt+Home cancels any rotation and displays the objects face-on.

You can see the specific rotation angles on the bottom right of the Xara3D window.

Graphic adds some further options.
