Speech Bubbles?
Hi,
Does anybody have an idea of how I can create speech bubbles in Xara?
This tutorial shows how to make them in Photoshop: http://www.eeight.com/cartoon-tutorials/speech-bubbles/
I'm trying to figure out how to make the same thing in Xara Extreme. If anyone can offer some tips or help, I'd really appreciate.
Thanks!

Re: Speech Bubbles?
Hi
I bet its quicker and easier in Xara.
Draw an oval, draw a shape to point at a mouth. Select both shapes go to arrange>combine>add and there you have a speech bubble of sorts.

Re: Speech Bubbles?
Hi gnyk,
Welcome to Talkgraphics.
As Masque says it is easier in Xara Xtreme. Please notice there is no beginning "E" in the word Xtreme. :D
An alternative method to the one Masque mentioned is shown in the attached image.

Re: Speech Bubbles?
See mini tutorial attached. There are other methods of doing this, I'll let someone else show you. I see I was beaten to it. :)
Saludos,

Re: Speech Bubbles?
It does. Thanks everyone!
I apologize for writing an xtra "E" in Xtreme. I don't xpect it to happen again.

Re: Speech Bubbles?
I do cartoon dialog balloons a lot. I like a more hand drawn look--here's how I usually do it:
1. Make an oval (or freehand whatever shape I like).
2. Give it a black fill.
3. Make another on top, white, a bit smaller and placed at an angle. That gives a varying line width for a little bit of character--and more control than a caligraphy pen nib.
For the arrow (I think it's officially a "call out"?) I make a black triangle at the correct spot on my balloon, then I dupe that, turn it white (fill and outline). Move the white triangle over the black to create the arrow. Group everything and "Bob's your uncle."
Super fast and looks "real."
