It's been a while since I posted anything in the forum so here's my latest WIP, a roadster. The steering wheel is missing as well as teh dashboard and seats (but hey, that's why it's still a WIP http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif ). Also the wheels are a bit too wide. All constructive feedback is welcome.
Modelled in Wings 3D and rendered in Vue d'Esprit.
BTW, the latest I read about a "commercial" wings in the wings forums, is that it will still be freeware. But if you would like to support the development of the program, Bjorn G happily accepts gifts and donations (escpecially gift certificates at amazon UK)

good to see you again & welcome back to the gang!
Hm, box modeling? Wow. Hard to believe but after seeing the second pic there was no doubt any more. That's a real goodie! Keep pushing the polygons ;-}

Hi Paul.
I got a question, having not used Wings...did you render in Vue because you do not like Wings rendering engine, does Wings have a rendering engine?
Curious minds want to know.
My Best,
Gare

the back end of Paul's roadster ...shaded/wire/render here... looks to be rendered in Wings3D... I would suggest that the renders done in Wings are only to preview, to give one an idea of how things will look, but no, it is not a quality renderer by any means... Wings allows for box modeling, basic coloring and UV mapping... from there it is on to other apps for bringing things to the stage so to speak...
of all the apps I have tried, I found that C4D v8.1 has pretty much the same toolset for box modeling as is found in Wings3D, from move>normal to loop tools... just different approaches in how things are interacted with is all... http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

I'm not married to trueSpace by a country mile, Gidge. I was just curious as to why Paul rendered out of Vue. Vue is not free, natch', but it does seem to be a rendering app of preference for folks whose preferred modeling app doesn't cut it.
Which casts no aspersions on any modeling app whatsoever. In fact, my fiorst love, MacroModel, didn't even have "finished rendering quality", but instead hooked into RenderMan.
As a matter of fact, RenderMan comes in a Maya flavor, and yet I've not seen anything particularly wrong with Maya's internal renderer.
Just curious. So many modeling apps, so little time!
My Best,
Gare
