Now you did it, Mike. You got me examining your layout more closely!
Okay, I don't think the circus font holds up against the rest of the text and the fonts you used. Because it's hollow, the "color" of your "page" makes the name of the moving company of secondary consideration.
Have you ever shown facially--or actually uttered words--to a client that there is something about a layout sample you didn't like? That has bit me in the butt a couple times over the years.
This isn't the font I was looking for, but I had URW Wood Type on this laptop. So instead of it being outlined, I added a copy for a shadow.
Take care, Mike

I like it! Much better overall balance, Mike.
And I regularly guide clients. And I don't lose them for my honesty...it's how you present the honesty. I found myself telling a client once, "No, you really don't like it, and I'll tell you why you don't like it..."
I'm sure I'll pay for this someday, but at the moment, it's paying me.

Getting plenty practice with the mould tool in this months Tips and Tricks, never used the mould tool so much but glad I've started using it as you miss out on lots of effects. The only thing required is practice and patience :D
I'm acquiring both :D

You just made my day, Stygg!
I mean it from the bottom of my heart and the extent of my talents as a teacher.
THIS is why I came to Xara Xone, THIS is why Xara thought I'd make a decent replacement for Gary Priester.
You be patient, and I'll be motivated to keep on digging up neat stuff you can do with underused and oblique features!
Thank you, Stygg.

Right on both answers Gary :D I found this picture on line and thought it was just the job for me to create a grid. Looking carefully at the pic, with my eyes!! dim as they are, you can see a grid practically built for you in the stone work, so like you said why change something that's been around since 5 B.C. :D

Re: June 2012 Tips and Tricks - Using Text as a Shape
Gawd, I underestimated the world power of Hollywood. The late Mr. Silvers was what we call a Borscht Belt comedian, and Sgt. Bilko from the late 1950s might have been has last claim to fame, except for being a cameo every once in a while on The Beverly Hillbillies.
And like good Americans, we recycle our trash...
Here's one to experiment with, and actually if you use the video tutorial I did on logo creation, you can combine the techniques with perspective and lighting.
I took the signage off a photo of a fast food place, not too hard to guess which one.
Make it a different business, or a similar one of your own ("Mike's Tacos", "Stygg's Chips & Fish"). Pay attention to appropriateness, as this image fails to do:

Cheers for that Gary, love that little sign at the entrance- Do not Enter- I don't suppose any one does want to enter willingly ;))

Funny.
All I did was take the logo off the sign. In any event, the owner can't complain about poor business when they have a sign outside telling drivers not to come in!
