Seeing the domain name and 'Leicester' made it reasonably clear (to me) that the restuarant is in Leicester, UK and not in Atherton, Qld Australia.
I would not assume that any normal user would pay attention to the domain name. I am too critical and detail oriented to be normal. ;) I only looked at it because I did not know where the restaurants were located and I was looking for some clues.
Also, Leicester is used to identify other towns in the world. The one I am most familiar with is in Massachusetts, US. There are others in New York and North Carolina, US. There is also a Leicester Island in Australia, and, according to Google, there is a Leicester City in Australia.
The point I was trying to make was advertise the location. Location info helps the user and also helps the Search Engines index the site. I think those are good goals to have for any commercial website. :)
Re: My restaurant and take-away X4 website
Thanks Tom, John.
I think I will get rid of the green strips, though it pains me to do so after so much effort.
The only other way to let the user know which types of meals are available from where, would be to use additional pages (unless I started again in flash).
PS My last post was typed out while not being aware of the 2 before it, I missed those somehow!!?.
Re: My restaurant and take-away X4 website
How do I activate a rollover without having to assign an address?

The green strips were neat. :D But, the problem I had navigating the page was that there were too many options (links) on the page and they overlapped.
As a user, I would not know if clicking on one link would do something different than clicking on another link. Using Alt text and Titles would help, but, sometimes, less options makes for a better user experience.
Also, as has been suggested, if you could make all common links active on mouseover, that would give a user a hint that they were the same option. For example, mousing over "Indian" would highlight the restaurants that serve that food.

You can use '#' for the URL. Nothing will happen when a user clicks it, but it will trigger any mouseover you add to it.

Good idea Tom, although I don't think that XX assign Alt text to images?
To join all common links would not be possible unless I completely re-design the whole page, as grouped rollover images can not over-lap other rollover images.

Thanks Steve.
I've implemented some earlier ideas and solved some more problems.

You can use the name button to add alt and title attributes to the image.
First give it an anchor '#' then add the alt attribute to the image. If you want to add the title attribute, just press the name button again and add it similarly.
(The anchor let's the title attrib' show on hover)
