Michael this thread is to show your website built using Xtreme4 and the new HTML export features as per Gary's OP.
I don't think your sites fit the bill yet does it?
But based on your other art work, I'd love to see what you will do when you update the site using Xtreme4 ;)
Steve, final word on my minor but annoying problem :rolleyes: , I reset all the image links in question to 'default' setting ... seems to be OK. :)
I use Xara a long time now...I've created serveral websites with the combination:
Xara Xtreme and NetObjects Fusion.
Each one of the Websites i created with the same method:
Design i create in Xara and the Website and it's structure is created in Fusion.
Best Regards
Michael
Michael your sites are cool but they are not created by Xara Xtreme 4 using the new HTML export feature.
Would you please edit your links to show only those that are created with Xtreme 4 as mentioned in Garys OP
Thanks
sledger
Hello sledger,
so...as i mentioned above, they are created in this combination...general question:
Are only this websites allowed to link here that are exactly only created ans Gary told us...?
If yes, i will delete my posting of course, but you will never find a webdesigner who is only working with one tool always many tools in the right combination giving the best result.
For instance:
If you create websites for customers you have to look: Wich tool brings the best result in the shortest time, because time is money for my customer...and for websites i need the best and the shortest is completely design in Xara Xtreme and to go furhter with an Webediting Program...
So again, if it is not allowed to put here links in this combination (Xara and Webediting Tool) than i will of course delete my posting or better delete my links...sorry for this misunderstanding...
Best Regards
Michael
Absolutley agree Michael - no question.Quote:

However we need to stay on-topic here, which is to showcase XaraXtreme 4 new HTML export tool.
Thanks for understanding ;)

They are very inviting and pleasing to look at, not cold and sterile.

Its great to see some sites that seem to work. My first effort, the subject of another thread here, was something of a disaster and has put me off completely. Is it just luck that your text seems to work perfectly and mine is garbled? Are there settings I should use/avoid? Gary, you seem to have used text repel and got it to work, is that the case? Mine looked OK in IE but was useless in Firefox.
Sledger
Maybe you should change the topic to read:
Show us your V4 website:mad:
Repelling text worked fine for me on the Drillnorth site. But I avoided Verdana (esp at 9pt - although I much prefer verdana) due to the way the various browsers handle font rendering. Other fonts (I stuck with arial) seem fine cross-browser.
I had a bit of a problem when fully justifying text, so I used left align.
Hi BONES,
the problem you have encountered and reported in another thread is already fixed. You should be able to export your site perfectly with latter updates. Sorry for that.
But you can also work it around with older version too. There are a lot of named objects in your design. It is important to understand, that all object names have special meaning for the HTML export. For example, you should not set a common name to multiple objects except in case of special names (JPEG, PNG, title="", alt="", flash="", swfobject="", img=""). All the other object names are exported as the tagret anchors. To much of them could upset older version of html export, and that what happened with your design. Try to remove all those names and then export.
Thank you.
Hi John:
Is it possible to define something as a JPEG and give it a 'title='
I have tried but can't seem to do it.
Hi Sqeaky.
Look in the Help file under HTML.
There it's explained how to add ALT and TITLE attributes to images.
(The help file calls them "Alt" and "Title" tags which is wrong, they are attributes applied to the <IMG tag)
Hi Sqeaky,
of course you can!
You just need to add two names to the object:
JPEG
title="My tilte!"
AH, you mean I can add different names to the same object. I was trying to add all the names separated by commas in one name tag.
A couple of lines about this in the manual might help if there is anyone else as dim as me out there :-)
What exactly does the IMG tab do as opposed to the Title and Alt tags?
squeaky, alt and title are not tags.
You don't need to worry about the (real) <IMG tag in Xtreme, it's done automatically when exporting, it's not something you need to add anywhere.
But FYI, the image tag looks like this:
<img src=picture.jpg>
It's a tag because it starts with a 'lesser-than' symbol '<' and ends with a 'greater-than' symbol '>'.
alt or title are 'attributes' which add things to the image properties. For example;
<img src="picture.jpg" alt="picture of a rabbit">
This will show the words 'Picture of a rabbit' on the page when the browser cannot show the actual image.
<img src="picture.jpg" title="picture of a rabbit">
This will show the words 'Picture of a rabbit' as a tooltip when you hover the mouse over the image on the page.
<img src="picture.jpg" alt="picture of a rabbit" title="picture of a rabbit">
This will show the words 'Picture of a rabbit' on the page when the browser cannot show the actual image AND show the words 'Picture of a rabbit' as a tooltip when you hover the mouse over the image on the page.
Thanks for that.
I've only done Flash sites before and this HTML stuff is a bit alien to me.
Too many words, not enough pictures!
Yeah, I used Text Repel and it worked in both browsers. I wonder if it has anything to do with the width of the page vs the width of the browser window?
Here's file I was playing around with and I repelled text on four different areas of the text.
Extract the contents to your desktop and double click on the Index.htm file
Yeah, I thought maybe Verdana was the culprit but its one of my favourite fonts - bold is properly bold.
Excellent news! I kept checking that thread but never got any further info from it.
If that is the case, it is because Xara has given them names. I never do.Quote:

Here's a pure XXP generated site optimised for viewing on a mobile (cell) phone. There's currently 26 pages and the page file size ranges between 2 & 12 Kb's.
I had a couple of issues creating the site but not insurmountable ones. I hope to add a photo gallery shortly. I also want to adjust the individual page lengths to match the text boxes.
If anyone could test it on a mobile & give me feed back I'd be more than pleased.
Haven't got web-browsing activated on mine - too stingy!! - but the stuff on there is really interesting. :) Is it designed for tours? Great idea if so :)
Cheers John,
It's an idea I'm working on for tours. (I've got the photo's functioning now)
I have a BT mobile that connects to my Home WiFi at no additional cost, so it's great for testing out sites on a mobile.
Can anyone assist me. When creating the picture gallery it created all PNG's which is the default. I went about naming all the images JPG. Unfortunately the xar file corrupted with a "Failed to Read xar" and a Buffer Error. Could someone try to repair it for me please?
EDIT. I notice it's only 2.9Kb so I guess it's u/s . I'll need to rebuild it.

Sorry Egg... nada :(
Cheers Steve, that's what I thought. Back to the drawing-board. Bak files would be nice :rolleyes:
Did you see my post with the MakeBakFiles ON/OFF toggles?

Hi Steve,
No I missed this one. It's an excellent little utility. I hate messing around in the registry. Thanks.
What works for me is to name one image JPEG (not JPG Egg).
Then open the Name Gallery.
Select all the images you want to be JPEGs.
Select the JPEG name in the Name Gallery and click Apply.
The Apply button is greyed out for me??
(Selected .jpg Images have grouped text on them which normally forces .png output unless I name them all, in the text, only one was forced to .jpg - remaining three were .png)
That's Egg not me grace.:o
Ah! perhaps that was the reason for the crash and burn!Quote:

Grace,Thanks for that. Hamish has PMed me about a forshortening problem he has viewing the same site and I think it's a screen (phone) resolution problem. I created this site at 340 pix wide. I think it gets cropped on screen resolutions below this.Quote:
Gary, I gave ypur mobile site it quick try on my PDA (Artemis) and it worked great.
If I get the time I'll do a bit more research.
Hi Egg,
I looked at your mobile site with my T-Mobile Sidekick and it fit perfectly.

This is what I have so far. I posted it up to see what it looks like.
Can't wait to finish it.

Ok, thought i would give designing a webpage a try...
Here's my quickie site i did this morning. It's a site i have been holding off launching due to the headache of designing the webpage. This is just thrown together the actual site will have shopping cart abilities, contests, etc.
http://www.dogsontshirts.com/index.htm
This is a 100% Xara Xtreme Site including the graphics shown. I drew all graphics shown, converted them to a BITMAP and exported them out as JPG. I then imported them back in and placed them as shown.
Why?
I tried leaving the graphics as created (as vector images) but it took a lot of load time and created massived images. I've only seen this in IE so have no idea how firefox or any other browser will display the site.
