Ah and I am now going to play my own devils advocate.
Because how do you sell this?
I tell you, you say, if there are more new PRO users, next time
the upgrade price don`t have to be so high because the cost of
the newer version is spread over more people/users.
Am I good, or am I Good? ;)
Re: Designer Pro 6 Manual Now Available
Yes, there is more profit from us pro users, and no easy way back ...
Ah, well, that's business!
Re: Designer Pro 6 Manual Now Available
The upside:
As a non-pro user, the offer to upgrade to pro for only $99 was too good to pass up. Even so, $99 for a piece of software that I use as a toy was still high. Had it been any higher I would have bought WD6 and XPGD6 instead, as I really don't need the other items. I agree that the already pro users should have been given more of a price break though.
The downside:
I'm now a pro owner, so next time, I get the rough end of the stick too.
From Xara's point of view though, giving non-pro users the option to upgrade to pro for a more than reasonable price only puts more money in their pockets not less.

Oh I agree with that, even a better one actually because you get the newest manual too. And that is worth $30 dollars, so for the software upgrade you actually payed $69. One hell of a deal.

Yep I started using PRO because of the flashcapabilities, next year they were in the regular version.

Yep, every year instead of $29 you will be paying $99.

Yes, and for years to come too.
I don`t say it is a bad business idea, it is just a wee bit bitter for the ones who every year managed to scrape the higher prices of the bottom of their barrel.
If it hadn't been for that flashcapability I would have stuck to the regular one
all these years, and I should have, it seems, would have saved me a bundle.
