Re: Load msg and compression
DocRock,
I've used a program for several years called Swish http://www.swishzone.com/index.php?area=home for Flash animations. It's less than $100 US and has a trial version available for download. Here's a website where I used it:

Re: Load msg and compression
I've seen this mentioned but wondered if it was really a good substitute for Flash. I'll give it a try. Many thanks for the suggestion.
Re: Load msg and compression
DocRock. It's correct you can't create a loading metre in Xtreme. It needs action script coding that goes something like Get Total Bytes and Get Bytes Loaded routines etc which is way beyond Xtremes capabilites.
That said, I've never been a lover of these preloader routines seen so often on Flash sites. Flash streams so why do so many developers think they need to load the whole swf before displaying it? Why have your visitors looking at a very boring loading indicator?
Why not just put a line of text in your first frame: "Loading, please wait". This will remain visible until the image in the next frame is loaded, then be replaced by this image.
It continues holding up the timeline until the next image is loaded etc. This works well even for visitors on dial up connections.
Just let it stream!
Re: Load msg and compression
DocRock,
Egg's idea seems like a nice solution but if you are still considering a preloader another very capable and inexpensive "Flash" like program called "KoolMoves" ($49 US) http://www.koolmoves.com/ offers action script instructions and examples in the "Support" section.
Users examples:

Re: Load msg and compression
If you do as Egg suggests, you won't need a loading speedometer. :D
