You are absolutely right ! But that wasn't my goal. Don't forget also that realistic representation is time consuming (even for CPU's. Look at the Global Illumination algorithms in 3D ; they need very powerful computers). Or that needs a virtuosity I never had.

I've just had a play myself with the trial and the fills are not even applied to the bevel never mind the exstrude, nor can you group overlay transparencies that will be applied to other sides of the extrude. Basically all you can do change the flat colour of the extrude ... HOW USELESS IS THAT?!
Well unless you want to draw a headless teddy or something like that.
Re: Eye Candy Fur applied on Extruded objects !
not at all useless if you can make use of it
useless if you can't ;)
Re: Eye Candy Fur applied on Extruded objects !
Ps that image was not up when I first read your post
that is a very good headless teddy JA - I am sure with some work a head could be made for it?

Ok, I relent, I'll change my word then ...
HOW 'LIMITING' IS THAT
Re: Eye Candy Fur applied on Extruded objects !
it is an addition to the toolset therefore it is not limiting it is enabling
if it does not do what you want it to do [yet] then it is not [yet] the right tool for your job

You could also add hairs on hairs if you group your shape with itself after applied effect ...

Ivan, I like those grey ear-muffs in the upper-right corner of your first posting.

John, after applying fur, I simply used the "rolled" 3D profile, Enhance Color at -100 (desaturated) and Stained Glass transparency on the grey background.
