Good idea Thomas!

OK - let me be the first! I'd like to plug Picture Publisher 9, the venerable, friendly-to-use bitmap editor. Its extremely well-rounded support for 48/64 bit images goes far beyond Photoshop 6's puny implementation of high bit depths. And the Lighting Studio module offers a wealth of great lighting effects. PP9 can't replace PS6 as a print production tool, but it costs only $70 and it's a hell of a value for your money. A demo can be had at www.micrografx.com. I'm testing it out now - and having a ball!

are there any third-party plug in effects for XX?
i.e. plug-ins that can do for vectors what kpt can do for bitmaps.

Great idea Thomas.
Eric--any Photoshop compatible plug-in that does not require a pixel selection should work.
Plus there are quite a few free and inexpensive plug-in filters available in The XaraXone Shareware Page

Be It Rarely So Humble...
Although I don't think you can use 'em in Xara because they were developed for Illustrator 7 and higher, someone might have both AI and XX and try things out...but: what can they do that Xara can't without plug-ins?
Typically for Corel's site: not one single example. Only a list of names of plug-ins. This, and the fact that you can't buy'n'download: no wonder they're in financial trouble.
The software I like to add to this forum:
Dreamweaver+Fireworks4,
and the incredible texture maker

Are you checking out Corel's other site
www.designer.com
in particular
http://www.designer.com/links/corel_resources.htm
A lot of useful stuff is there.
There are not many commercial plug-ins available specifically for Draw as most effects are programmed via CorelScript or VBA and given away
For lots of useful scripts, I would try
Alex Vakulenko's site at
www.vakcer.com/oberon
Debbie Cook's Photo-Paint place at
http://www.cedesign.com/cefx/tppp.html
Nick Wilkinson's site at
www.isocalc.com
Check out the cool tools section there as well.
Les Johnson's site at
www.mistycreek.com/corel_addons
www.unleash.com
for Bill Whelan's scripts and other companion apps like EZ Metrics
Personally I think Corel's recent problems are down to inept marketing and a total lack of focus, I still don't know why they purchased some of the metacreations products.
CorelDRAW 10 has done nothing to improve the situation.

I just gave the info to help, not because I'm searching myself for vector plug-ins.
I do have DRAW9, but I hardly use it anymore. All I need to do with vectors can be done in Xara, and if it weren't for Debbie's CEFX, I would seriously think of uninstalling DRAW completely.
To give you an idea: when they bought Metacreations KPT etc, I mailed them, asking whether these plug-ins could be used in Paint. The reply was negative. Untill I found a site on which KPT5 was used in Paint9. I mailed the author, and he replied: "Why shure, no problem at all." They also had a promotion for Wacom Users: they could buy a cheap upgrade to Painter6. But they forgot that there are also people living outside the States and Canada. They were going to mail me when there would be a promotion in Europe.
After several months, I don't care anymore.
Problem is that when you become too big (as a company), you also become too fat and dull.
But enough on this sad example of dinosaurism.
Thanks for the info anyway. Hope I'll ever be able to help you too.
