Childhood CARTOON Memories
There were, of course, many great cartoons when I was a child.
Wacky Races was one, amongst many others that I liked.
Such as; Atom Ant, Secret Squirrel, Superman, and many other great cartoons.
Wacky Races wasn't necessarily my most favourite, but there were so many other characters in the cartoon, Like The Ant Hill Mob, and Professor Pat Pending, and The Slag Brothers, and Peter perfect... and others!
So, I thought I would do a bit of a drawing, and share it with all the TG members.
If you want to draw one of your favourites, and share it with us, feel free to post your drawing in this thread.
Show us what you grew up with.
Re: Childhood CARTOON Memories

Re: Childhood CARTOON Memories
More my teen years and later but Walt Kelly's POGO is my all time favorite. Pogo lives in the Okefenokee Swamp in the deep south. Kelly's drawings were exquisite and his humor was both sill such as the attached, and could be bitingly satirical as when he portrayed Lyndon Banes Johnson as a long horn steer. Decon Mushrat, an ultra-conservative person's dialog is in Old English. Great characters and imagination.

@Gary ~ First time I've encountered this, I must have had a sheltered life. It evokes mid-century America, doesn't it?
I first posted this back in 2009, when the copyright expired. I thought it could use another airing.
Bob.
Re: Childhood CARTOON Memories
That's excellent, Bob.
Popeye was probably the very first cartoon I saw in the late 60s.
It was on a Black and White TV and as a very young kid, I did enjoy them.
I wonder if other members will post their drawings of their childhood cartoons?!

.. culprit, bugs bunny of course... I must say the llludium Q-36 [aka PU-36] Explosive Space Modulator looked suspiciously like a stick of Acme dynamite :D maybe props borrowed some from Wile E
100% Xara Designer Pro and all vector [assuming you allow art brush bristles and fractal fills]
been a long time since I drew using shapes 12 months or more
I grew up not just with looney tunes but also artists like Searle - heres one I posted back in 2012 - not done in xara, but as I posted one that was, guess it's ok, and just as relevant to theme even if this is later Searle rather than the St Trinian's I grew up with [I have a picture of Angela Menace I drew a very long time ago by hand, but it's buried somewhere since our recent move]

@GWP - Pogo Fan here too, though not until I grew up, living way out of the loop for such as a kid
