Re: Google Analytics quirk
That does not sound right.
In Web Designer when you set up your FTP settings, their is an Explore Web Space button. Click that and you can see the actual html files on your site. See if this is shown in your directory.
You can delete it if it is and then see if your site loads correctly in your browser.
If it turns out to be an essential page (somehow I don't think it is) then republish your site.
Not a bad idea to check with your ISP and see if they have added any pages. And also, make sure you are using a strong password. If not update your password to as many characters as you are allowed and used extended characters (&%$#@ etc.) in your password as well if allowed.
Re: Google Analytics quirk
Thank you. I'll do all this and report back. Meanwhile, the Google Analytics support guys have been onto it at the other end. I was just on hold for over 30 minutes and they still need more time to figure out what is going on.
Re: Google Analytics quirk
It does not appear in the list of HTML files. All of those are correct except for one random addition, which is a non-match for any of my pages.
googlef479815928f5510f.html
Should I delete this?
Re: Google Analytics quirk
Wait until you hear from Google. It might be an important file for Analytics.
You could call up your site and then add a /googlef479815928f5510f.html after your domain name to see if it is anything untoward.
Re: Google Analytics quirk
I think that those files are added to your site by Google. When I was doing SEO work with google then they always added such files - this one was added to one of my sites googlefe88c916d7d8434b.html
Hope that helps
Re: Google Analytics quirk
In the past I have added similar Google HTML files via FTP at the request of Google to verify that I have administration rights to the site.
Re: Google Analytics quirk
That is as JK points out; a google html verification file.
Re: Google Analytics quirk
Thank you to everyone for your help. Google got back to me finally, via email.
As discussed over the chat regarding the following landing page /channel/UCYcWr0Ly19XrisfLJ8ciwLg reported on your Analytics account . I further checked with my analytics specialist and they have advised since you have signed up Youtube analytics on this particular channel www.youtube.com/channel/UCYcWr0Ly19XrisfLJ8ciwLg, it is being tracked in your analytics account

And thank you back for advising what the file's about. I am sure someone else out here will appreciate the detail.
