I remember reading a tutorial that showed how to make a graduated transparency. Black was opaque. white was transparent and shades of gray were semi-transparent. Where can I find this tutorial?
Thanks

Hi John,
Cannot help with knowing the tut. The brick wall image attached has a rectangle, filled with a white to black gradient and stained glass transparency applied to it. White pixels become transparent.
Take care, Mike
It sounds to me like you are thinking about an Opacity mask. Any object, group or photo can be used as an opacity mask. black will be 100% transparent and white will be 100% opaque. Shades in between will become semi transparent the darker they are the more transparent they will be. You can find more on Opacity masks in the help files
here is an example of an opacity mask.

Thanks Gary & Francis. Opacity Mask is what I was looking for.
