Straightline into Straight line at 90 Deg?
Hey,
Sorry for what maybe a stupid question but im stuck. Im trying to create a line that starts a one point then it moves 90 degrees one direction then 90Deg in another direction so i get like a maze effect. When i use the line tool and draw a line holding down i think SHIFT to make it 90deg when i let go to finish the line and then try and draw on the end of the line i cannot! It just gives me a grab handle for the end of the line but i want to continue drawing the line adding to it so to speak.
Any ideas?
Andy

Shape Tool. Marvelous, wonderful, magnificent Shape Tool, is there anything you can't do?
Specifically, Set the Shape Tool to create straight line segments instead of curves, and hold down CTRL as you place each node, that will constrain the angle (45 degree increments by default, I believe). Should get you nice straight line segments that turn at 90 degree angles.
Alternatively, turn on Snap To Grid.

Great thank you!!!!
Such a great bunch here to help me out!
Much appreciated :-)
Re: Straightline into Straight line at 90 Deg?
Like Ben said the shape tool is what you want. And you can set the angle constraint to what ever angle you want Utilities> options> General tab>angle constraint there is a dropdown that will give some of the most common angles and you can also type in any angle you want into the box.

Freehand Brush Tool. Marvelous, wonderful, magnificent Freehand Brush Tool, is there anything you can't do? (Besides the limitations with brushes themselves?)
Anyway, just had to post an alternate with a tool that doesn't get nearly the love it deserves. Click the FBT, hold down 'Alt' + 'Ctrl', draw a line. It will be constrained to the angle limitation set in your options, of which 90° and 0° are two defaults. Drag your mouse to the next point, pause it, release the 'Alt' key (not the Ctrl key), press it and hold again, then drag your next line segment. Repeat until you can't see the screen for the lines.
Enjoy!
(sorry for the blatant plagiarism, Ben!)
Re: Straightline into Straight line at 90 Deg?
No problem at all, and you're right, you can use the Freehand tool to do the same thing.

Don't forget the Pen Tool, it also can be used to create the 90° straight lines. :D
