Need expert tips for line techniques
Hello
I'm getting used to the power of Xara but would really like folks to show me how to re-create the effects on the three sample images attached. Hope I'm not being to greedy by posting three images but they represent effects I am trying master for logo creation.
1. How do you get that flow effect on the body of the bird?
2. What's the easiest way to create the circles that taper and curve at the same time on the annodata logo?
3. How can you create the globe that consists of individual bars as shown?
I know these can be done but the trick is how to do this efficiently - especially in the case of the globe!
Thanks
Silvernet

How to draw a bird - tutorial Stroke shapes
Annodata - this tutorial Brushes
Globe - use Mould Tool. I will soon make a tutorial on using this tool.
I'm looking for an assistant to translate the lessons into other languages, but now you can use google translate.

I had a go at drawing a globe based on your example and using it as a template coupled with a slightly different variation.
I'm sure someone will pop up with the name of a bolt on Spiral-on-a-sphere-tool you can download, but otherwise I think the best option is to draw it.

Hey guys, thanks very much for the tips!
I like the wooden strand effect in the globe masque! Please can you tell how you did this (high level steps)???

If you ungroup it and pull it apart you'll see its a shape with a wood fill from the fill gallery overlaid with a dark colour with transparency for shading. The original drawing is one of Eschers little doodles which I basically traced to get the shapes right. How he got them right in the first place you would have to ask him.
Here is a quick variation on the original image making a sort of cage to keep a light in.

Derek,
Your spheres are just great. I am particularly intrigued by the wood spiral, that is a stroke of genius from both you and Escher.
It took me awhile to figure out how you might have done your impossible triangle. This wood spiral will be on my list to see if I can do also.
Thanks for posting the xar file, that is a big help.
