Re: Editing Group Content
you could try floating your tabs so you can see them both at once
window > cascade
then
window > arrange views
Re: Editing Group Content
Thanks for the answer Steve but I would hope that there is actually a way of stopping this.
For me, this is not good at all.
Re: Editing Group Content
Rik I cannot find anything in the registry or AppData that would turn off this feature.
Re: Editing Group Content
rik try this
with your group unselected - go to the text tool
then ctrl+click on your block of text - is it then editable?
Re: Editing Group Content
it looks to me like XDP7 has been modified to mean you can now edit text within a group by ctrl+click, as with other objects
EDIT - mind you saying that, checking back - you could always do that in text tool in XDP6 .....
Re: Editing Group Content
Actually text with a group or softgroup can be selected and edited by using the Text Tool without ctrl+click.
Re: Editing Group Content
very true doh - grouping text is not something I tend to do - I still adhere to the old 'all text on its own layer[s]' principle wherever possible
Rik has probably gone to bed - and I'm about there myself ......well past 1am here...
Re: Editing Group Content
Good night to both of you.
I worked using Zulu (GMT) timezone where ever I was in the world for many years. Still think in Zulu most of the time. ;)

Re: Editing Group Content
Thanks very much for your input Bill and Steve.
It's being able to select one part of the group that's important for me.
For example, in the attached picture, the two oval shapes were grouped first, then the text was grouped with that and then the bigger outside shape.
It's the CTRL+Click that you've been talking about guys that made me think.
I've always been used to double-clicking to select the part I want (and now you get another 'Edit Inside...' page that I don't want), well, thinking about the CTRL+Click, that actually allows you to select any part, no matter what is grouped with what.
This one thing was annoying me so much and I won't tell you what I was thinking of doing!
So, the 'Edit Inside...' page opening up is not an issue with me any more if I just do CTRL+Click to select what I want.
Thanks once again to the Xperts for helping. :-bd
