How to replicate this in Xara
Hi guys,
Take a look at this tutorial:
http://abduzeedo.com/colorful-bokeh-effect-pixelmator
Its a tutorial for a specific app, to produce a bokeh effect. I think it looks really nice.
Any tips on how I would go about reproducing it using Xara, using vectors?
Thanks.

Welcome to the Xtreme Conference.
This is probably a lot easier in Xtreme.
Have a look at the attached Xtreme XAR file and see if you can reverse engineer what I have done.

Welcome to the forum. Have to agree with Gary, this is right up Xara Xtreme's street.
Mainly done with 4 coloured fills and plenty of transparencies.

Bob.

Re: How to replicate this in Xara
I used a circular transparency and adjusted the profiles sliders. I also added a bit of feathering and a slight glow.

Very easy in Xara Xtreme. About 5 minutes to make the attached image.

Re: How to replicate this in Xara
I am posting the image from the tutorial to compare with the various solutions. Note the background colors (a linear alt rainbow filled rectangle).
It appears to me that the circles are all filled the same but the transparency is revealing the rainbow filled background.

The alt-rainbow fill was the first thing that caught my eye in the original image.

Re: How to replicate this in Xara
It looks more like a multi-colour linear fill on close inspection.
Re: How to replicate this in Xara
I used a circular transparency, cleared outlines, and added another circular transparency to each round shape.

P.S. I forgot to add just this note, open and see xar file in "show printer mode" view :)
