Using MS Word vector in Xara
I was trying my best to get my Arabic text into Xtreme as a vector but not as text.
I don't have Corel draw etc and can't afford it if I wanted it anyway.
This seemed to work:
1• While in MS Word; copy text to the clipboard.
2• Open up an OpenOffice drawing document (free from OpenOffice.org)
3• [Special Paste] you text as [Formatted text (RTF)]
4• Export the selection as a PDF file. You don't need to worry about converting text to shape.
Xara doesn't support Semitic text etc. yet and I don't use Arabic that much anyway so this method is OK.
It would not be ideal for those who always type in Arabic etc.

Whatever works. :)
Thanks for the tip.
Re: Using MS Word vector in Xara
Ooops!
This method only seems to work with text created with the MS Word [insert] [symbol] box.
It doesn't automatically convert the text to shapes when the text is created using the standard keyboard method.
Sorry!
Back to the drawing board!!!
Re: Using MS Word vector in Xara
Finally I've sussed it.
1- Copy text from 'MS Word'.
2- Paste into 'OpenOffice Draw'.
3- [Modify] - [Convert] - [to Curve].
4- Copy and then paste into XX
Or
4a- Export as PDF
4b- Insert PDF into XX.
This method should convert your text into editable vector shapes to be used in your Xara application.
Re: Using MS Word vector in Xara
Sorry again.
I have just found a major flaw with this method. The final vector is very rough and unusable when enlarged.
Solution:
- Make the the text very large in 'OpenOffice Draw'. ie. use big font size eg 300.
- [Modify] [Convert to curve]
- Then copy this and paste into XX as an [enhanced metafile].
- you will then need to smoothen the shape by reducing the nodes by using the [shape editor] and [smoothing slider].
