If you open the Fill gallery, then select an object, choose "fill" on the gallery menu. The object does not receive the fill, instead the bitmap is inserted into the drawing.

The fill works fine on my copy.
Click the Fill Tool icon on the left toolbar, and make certain that 'Repeating Tile' is selected on the info bar.
Fills from the fill gallery should then 'fill' your selected shape when the [Fill] button is pressed.
works okay for me too - was it a particular kind of object?
Also works here (I used a simple rectangle quickshape). The only way I could get it to just insert the fill as a bitmap was to not have the shape selected at all.
Perhaps the same sort of subtle weirdness that doesn't happen to everyone, like me and the extrude tool.
No none of the suggestions changes anything. I am talking about the fill Gallery not the bitmap Gallery.
I am not using the pro version, and I have the feeling you all are.

If a person double-clicks on the picture of the fill, then the fill itself becomes a picture. Selecting the button Fill should fill the selected object.
Drifter is correct, unless the 'shape to be filled' is selected, clicking the [fill] button on the fill gallery window will simply place a rectangular bitmap copy of the selected fill on a page.
The behaviour is the same for both the Classic and Pro versions of Xtreme4
Judi - I have checked xtreme standard 4 as well as pro 4 and it is the same with both on my machine
as long as an object is selected, then choosing a fill in the fill gallery and pressing the fill button fills the selected object

In the fill gallery, if you click the "background" button or if you right click and say "Set page background" you only get a small filled rectangle. It doesn't seem to affect the background. It does work in the bitmap gallery
