Desperately need G/S/B medals for school Friday
Hi Folks, hope I find you all well - haven't been on for almost 2 months, what with the summer school hols.
Has anyone got a Gold, Silver and Bronze medal .XAR that I could scrounge a copy of?
I will be using them at around 2 inches (50mm) in height and final output will be 300dpi PDF then onto the "ole faithful" - school B/W photocopier.
They need to look OK in black'nwhite! (thinking of the colour I suppose)
It's for a homework handout I need to give out to the kids tomorrow (Friday)
Blank or with laurels would be absolutely perfect
However I would be equally delighted for a fill type recommendation and some RGB values?
Thanks for reading and as usual, kindest regards
John

What does a school medal look like? I would think they would be easy to draw.
Re: Desperately need G/S/B medals for school Friday
Hi Bruce!
My home printer is broken and I am unable to print out jobs to see what they look like in black and white.
You are quite correct, drawing medals are easy. Drawing laurels, for me anyway, harder.
I have been using the colour scheme from Mr Priester's magnifying glass tutorial and it looks great, but brass instead of gold.
I only enquired whether anyone had a XAR file already, or some colour schemes and fill types to get a nice bright Olympic style medal, in Gold, silver and bronze, that would still look OK in black and white.
I thought I would save an hour or so, by asking. I'm definitely not asking anyone to draw them for me.
Sorry for the confusion.
Regards
John

Mr. Priester recommends you look at Metallic Fills in Xara Xone Workbook 37. :)
If you need to just adapt the blend to make the kind of metal you want.

That is ok, I just wasnt sure what it was that you were looking for. Now I see an Olypmic type medal.

In my admittedly weak defence, I thought I'd gone through the tutorials - and missed this one!
Thanks for bringing it to the fore for me. I have decided to make a template with Hues for Gold Silver and Bronze.
Then I can use it as often as needed.
Much obliged to you for your assistance - and a very good morning to you:)
Bruce,
Thanks for your interest. Sports-wise, the only way us Brits get a gold medal these days is to draw it in Xara;)
Thanks again, gents!

Well Here is a Gold Medal that you can have if you like John. Not sure if you can use it or if it is the kind of thing you are looking for. Just whipped it out on my lunch break. Complete with laurels!
Re: Desperately need G/S/B medals for school Friday
Spot on Bruce! I'm in the process of filling your medal with Gary's Gold fill and so far I'm very happy with the results.
Thanks very much, hope your lunch was better than my dinner:-)

John
