Re: import a gif or jpeg into photshop
Hi Ian
what I would do is open both files in photoshop and then use cut from one and paste into the other - it should appear as a new layer...
EDIT : make that copy and paste :o
Re: import a gif or jpeg into photshop
Thanks for that, I've used Xara for some time but this is my first foray into photoshop and it's a steep learning curve.
Hence is frustration I created my blended circle in xara extreme and wanted to import it into photoshop.
It's a pity the folks on the adobe forum are not as helpfull to new users
cheers
Ian
Re: import a gif or jpeg into photshop
glad to help
BTW: I would use .png or .psd for preference to export an image from xara to photoshop
Re: import a gif or jpeg into photshop
Hi
the only reason I used gif is I need transparency thoughthinking about it I coulds use png because it's not going on the web. (good thought- thanks)
As for PSD I seem to have no options for transparency so thats something for research
cheers

Re: import a gif or jpeg into photshop
EPS files made in Xara import very well into Photoshop.
Just go File then Place in Photoshop to import an EPS file into an open Photoshop document, all transparent features of the Xara file will be preserved.
Re: import a gif or jpeg into photshop
Ian, one thing would be helpful to know is what version of Photoshop you're using. If you're using a really old version it would be good to know.

Yep point taken using a four day old cs3 extended version of photoshop
I have discovered that the helpfile is not apparently the same as you get with the stand alone version. I bought the web premium suite and the help file covers every program in the suite.
cheers
