WHat i want to do is turn 3D modelling produced in Spirit / SketchUp into illustration / presentation layouts.....
recently i have purchased:
Photoplus 8.0
Pagesplus 9.0
Xara Xtreme
Xara X1 [what is the difference????]

So where am i going wrong?
Xara Xtreme is great but I can not create multiple layouts....
PagesPlus / photoplus are good too....

If Spirit/Sketch Up (I don't know these progs) can export in a standard bitmap or vector format, then all the progs you have mentioned will accept them.
Page Plus is excellent for layout and more recent versions will export as pdf. (Current latest is P.Plus Eleven)
Xara is most excellent for editing and creating images to put into your presentations, also, it can export flash files. You can create presentation frames in its animation mode and export the animation.
Photoplus is primarily a bitmap editor such as Photoshop.
I haven't looked at that one since version 2 and don't have it on the computer anymore.

Hi Andrew, don't have answers for you, because I'm not familiar with the progs you mention, but for one: XaraXtreme. Xara X1 is just an earlier version of Xtreme...
Re: am I missing something????????
I don't know, what's the problem in detail, Andrew. But I would say, the only thing you need is to start with some practice in one of these programmes...
This forum is a good source of knowledge to solve all your problems with Xara Xtreme or Xara X1. If you want to know the difference between Xara X1 and Xara Xtreme, feel free to search for this with the search function in this forum.
btw: Welcome to talkgraphics! :)

Re: am I missing something????????
All the presentations I have worked on used presentation software such as Power Point, As far as I know Power point is the most popular in an educational environment.
I've used Corel presents as well, an old version thats no longer available.
I've never heared of a 3D software called Spirit, could you explain?
And for the other difficulties your having, you need to be more specific.
Re: am I missing something????????
thank you to you all, your input is appreciated.
I guess my frustration has been with all the different software that i have and their primary fuction, what is the best way forward??
Mike: Spirit - architectural modelling software produced by Softtech [see www.softtech.com]. will compete with ArchiCAD, Vectorworks, Revit, etc...... only in it's infitcy stage of life but a very clever engine and people who are dedicated and helpful......
Remi: i wil do a search as recommended.
Thank you MarciaB and Intbel for your knowledge as well..... i will add to this when i have learnt a bit more.....

Ok, let's go step for step:
- Start the piece of software, which starts in a second and offers the best and fastest drawing functions and the most potential to create stunning graphics: Start Xara Xtreme.
- Move your mouse pointer to the Menu "Help" and choose the menu entry "Movies".
- Watch the great video tutorials.
- If you need more inspiration and a helping hand with your first steps in Xara Xtreme, visit the Xara Xone web site and go ahead with some (or all) of the tutorials from Gary Priester. Start with a easy tutorial and you'll be surprised, how much you learn from each step in these tutorials.
- There are also some great video tutorials from Egg Bramhill. You'll find them here.
- If you don't forget to do some practice, practice and perhaps some more practice, than you'll be infected from the great potential of Xara Xtreme and you'll need a Ebay account to declare your other graphics software for sale.
:)

Remi
