I have just started using Xara X to make some, for lack of better words, geometric lace backgrounds. This has involved lots of slicing, aligning, and paying attention to borders and sizes than I like, but it has seemed well suited for it. I would like to figured out a simple way to add a shadow behind the lace that will tile properly. A simple way has eluded me.
Any Suggestions? I am attaching a sample and will follow by posting the .XAR file.
Thanks

I maintain the copyright on the original, but would like to see modifications as well as solutions for adding a drop shadow that tiles.
Thanks

with what you have? It is quite elegant.
A drop shadow is usually offset down and left or right. Perhaps if you tried just having it centered it might work?

Dave you have a very elegant tile here, why would you want a shadow any where in that?? It's very beautiful just as it is!! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

I agree with the above comments, but if you want to experiment here's one method you might try.

Egg inspired me! Not a first either. I appreciated the compliments greatly. Here is my result following the gist of Egg's suggestion. Cropping one tile out of the center of nine tiles that were shadowed worked perfectly.
Here is my result. I think it's unique, but that doesn't mean I like it better than the one without the shadow.
Gary in answer to your question, "Why?" An unquenchable thirst for knowledge, my friend!

The balls and borders are not seamless on this background tile and the red is too bold for most backgrounds, but utilizing a shadow and beveling the lace it really jumps out. These are rewarding when they are fianlly done.
