I'm being really stupid, again! But have searched and searched for the answers for the last couple of hours and give up!
How do I export an image from xara to pagemaker so that there is no white box in the background? Cannot use a gif.
Thanks

Thanks for your posts but unfortunately still no further forward. Pagemaker can't place a PNG file and I can't use a .jpg as the background is a random pattern.

Try saving as CMX file. I think pagemaker can read these.

EPS
Export your image and Place it in PageMaker as an EPD (encapsulated postscript) file.
PageMaker usually displays a bitmap preview image but when the file is output on a PostScript compatible printer it should print fine and at the resolution of the output device.

You can also load the document background (or a screen capture of it) into Xara, put your image in front of it, positioning it on the background the way it will appear in Pagemaker. Then export your image as a bitmap with transparency. Will Pagemaker load a transparent gif, and would gif have sufficient quality for your purpose?
You may also be able to export from Xara as AI. Sometimes that works for me.

Thanks for all your suggestions, will give them a go and see what will work.

Hi!
Export from Xara as EPS and Place your file in PM.
You'll see the preview bitmap with white background, but it will be print out with a transparent background http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
