Completely OT - PaintShop Pro section problem
I am logged in to the PaintShop Pro section of the site.
I can see my name and the 'log out' bit on the top right.
But I can't post, there is no red Post New Thread box, it's blank.
Have left a message (contact us) but not had a reply.
PaintShop Pro X8 is out, and I am happy to recommend it, which is something I couldn't say for X7.
Apologies for posting here, but don't know how else to get the message across.

The paint shop pro forum has been closed for some time.

@Grenou,
I upgraded to PSP X8 from X7 without being able to try it, as I am away from home. I wanted to take advantage of the special upgrade price that supposedly ended yesterday. I see now that the upgrade price remains. It should really be lower.
What do you see as so special as opposed to X7, which was actually the first version that I have purchased. I am using X7 for photo work only. I have it as the image editor in Magix Video Pro X7, and as the bitmap editor for Xara DPX11. Still, I haven't used it much.
Re: Completely OT - PaintShop Pro section problem
I don't work for Corel, so can't help with the pricing :-)
I was part of the beta testing team for X7, but didn't like it, too many niggles. But X8 works well. Improvements have been made to the Magic Fill (although the same thing in Xara is better) it is now workable - expand the selection for better results)
They're made some improvements in the Layers Palette.
You can add text to a selection (again Xara's text tool is miles better than PSP, but at least PSP's text tool is a lot better than before).
You can add text to an image: File>Add info
What's new should be on the Corel website by now.

Aha, that would explain why I never see any new posts :-)
Thanks Christine :-)
I will remove the link from the favourites bar.

Re: Completely OT - PaintShop Pro section problem
@Grenou,
Thanks for the reply. My price comment was just a lament expressed by others. It's a problem with a lot of software. For an update to a new version, we pay 60-70% of the price of buying new, for very little of value. Worse, Corel will undoubtedly be selling to new users at the same discounted price within a few months. Given your comments, I conclude that there is really little reason for a user like me to upgrade. I did anyway, but probably will skip a few "updates" in the future.
Thanks,
John

Re: Completely OT - PaintShop Pro section problem
Thanks Angelize.
Sorry for posting where it didn't belong ..
The PSP users are used to my singing Xara's praises, telling them that 'this and that' works much better in Xara and would they please pay attention!
Someone has and there have been improvements.

Yup, that is always likely to happen.
I always upgrade Xara, without even looking as I know I get a good product. The cost isn't huge. Miss a lunch at the pub and the software is paid for :-)
Whenever PaintShop Pro release a new version there are always special discounts at the beginning and just when a new version is about to be released.
It can't be the easiest to keep bringing out new features. There has to come a time that there isn't anything new to add!
