I am not sure where the default file storage is but it is probably in your My Documents folder.
Re: Transfer Project Files
Hello Gary
Yes! I can find all those including the Template files but... I simply cannot find the Project files and there does not seem to be any way to export.
In WebStyle on the old computer I can see, load & edit the projects.
The details in the other thread pointed to an Albums folder (I assume that was the name of the Project). There is a Project in amongst the Templates but none of the Projects which load.
Mystifying, as though it is being saved somewhere else.
As well there are seemingly no relevant settings viewable in RegEdit.
MORE INFORMATION:
1. If I create a new Project it is created & I can come back to it.
2. HOWEVER, if I right-click a Project & select Browse an error occurs - file missing or inaccessible.
3. The new Project does not appear in the directory listing
4. BTW This is in Vista (yargh!, washes mouth out)

Re: Transfer Project Files
Hi Teedee,
Let’s say your project was called ‘xyz’. You should find the xyz (project) folder in:
Program Files/Xara/Webstyle 4/WSTemplates
‘xyz.xgt’ and ‘xyz.xws’ should be in:
Program Files/Xara/Webstyle 4/WSTemplates/xyz (Project)
‘xyz User Styles.xml’ should be in:
C:/Users/User/AppData/Roaming/Xara/Webstyle 4/Styles
and ‘xyz.lnk’ should be in:
C:/Users/User/AppData/Roaming/Xara/Webstyle 4/Recent
The xyz.png file (if you saved one) should be in whichever folder you saved it to.
Note – some people have a ‘Program Files’ folder as well as a ‘Program Files (x86) folder. Sometimes you’ll find the correct directories in the second one, if you have it.
Re: Transfer Project Files
Thanks James
You've given me extra info. (Did not know they were xgt & xws files. Also checked the roaming folder.
I have installed XWS onto the new computer using a bog standard install, then created & saved a Project. The dialog told me the Project was saved with the name specified. BUT... it is nowhere to be found, not in any of the places you or others specify. I have also done a search for the XWS & XGT files to no avail.
The Projects do not appear to be stored in any of these locations. If I browse the Project folder (XWS Start > projects > Right click folder) the error message tells me it is unable to open the location ...Program Files (X86)...WS Templates (the one everybody mentions). A manual check verifies it is not there BUT it opens correctly with all settings intact.
Puzzling..!!!

Hi TD,
Maybe the attached images may help. The images are from my Vista machine showing Project folders and the contents of one of the Projects.

Re: Transfer Project Files
Hi TD,
It may be that your files and folders may be hidden.
Check the Tools >Folder Options in your Windows Explorer to make sure you can see hidden files/folders.

Re: Transfer Project Files
If these things don't work Teedee, you can always use a program called ‘Everything’.
1) Download ‘Everything’ here: http://www.voidtools.com/download.php
2) Install it, and let it analyse your hard drive. Then open Webstyle and create a new project. Save it as ‘jajbjcjd’, because you probably don’t have a file with that name on your hard drive anywhere. Turn off Webstyle.
3) Turn ‘Everything’ on and search for jajbjcjd.
You should instantly see the files with ‘jajbjcjd’ in them, along with their directory locations.
See attached image.

Thanks Bill
yes. I have seen those in the other thread I referred to.
I have attached a snapshot of my Templates folder. Although I have only shown part of it there is only ONE Project, Default. On Save the dialog tells me it has saved it as Grey Gypsies. There is definitely no such folder. I have also done a global search on the Computer; again no such folder. Also a search for the component files returns no files.
In Webstyle 4 if I go to Start (in XWS) select Projects it appears there but if I right click the Project it cannot be accessed but it opens with all the correct information in it.
This is the case on BOTH the old and new computers.

Re: Transfer Project Files
TD have you found the .xml files in the roaming appdata folder? The location of the project folder will be within the .xml file with a similar name to the project.
