Text position
I am having the oddest problem that must have a simple solution that I just can't wrap my brain around.
I have an EPS map and would like to put some text on top. Very simple but I can't do it.
The text is always behind everything, even if I use the arrange functions. I can sometimes bring it to the front, but no matter what, it is always behind at least one part of the map. I have tried moving that specific part of the map back, but that doesn't work. Niether does moving the text to the front of just that layer or object. I have tried grouping everything in the map together, and then trying to move the text to the front of that, but that doesn't work at all.
I have tried typing on top of the normal map, the grouped map, and to the side and then bringing the text over. Nothing works, I cannot put the text in front of everything!
What am I not understanding?
Thanks

Re: Text position
The map has to be on a Layer above where you are adding the text.
Use the Locate... button on the Page & Layer Gallery and click on part of the map.
This will highlight the map part and prove it is not locked.
Then, in the Page and Layer gallery, click the Layer's name that is holding the map part.
Hopefully you can now add your text to the right layer and it will be above the map.
If you see the text block is now immediately underneath the layer name as the first item then it is above all of the map.

Re: Text position
Sounds as though you've got the 'Page background' layer selected.
Open the 'Page & Layer Gallery' and make sure that you select one of the Layers (if you have more than one).

Re: Text position
Recently I was working on a map for Activision Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, and a PSD schematic map was used as reference material, but that PSD file contained layers. So as I was working on the map, I found that I had to move above the current layer to see it, which is a function of the "Page & Layer Gallery" described in the posts above this one. Depending on how many layers the imported file has, the more complicated or more layers you have to move to get the work done. I find it a pain in the butt sometimes, but that's what happens with imported files created outside of Xara, sometimes.

Re: Text position
Locate mode- Sweet thank you!
Couldn't find it at first, right click is the key.
Thank you guys so much,
Cheers,

Re: Text position
As I said earlier "Use the Locate... button on the Page & Layer Gallery and click on part of the map."
