Xara Designer Pro X9 AND Toshiba Encore 2 write tablet?
Greetings,
My PC broke so I purchased a Toshiba Encore 2 write tablet with Windows 8.1 which works great with other software I have.
I installed my Xara Designer Pro X9 software on it, and when I try to draw something, the tablet pen doesn't do anything. If I try to draw with my finger, it draws fine.
Why do you think XDP X9 is not recognizing my tablet pen?
Best Regards,
Bill

Does the pen work in other drawing packages? e.g., GIMP.

Yes, it works in my other apps like: Sketchbook Pro, Manga Studio EX5, Mischief, and Photoshop CS6.

Expecting my Encore Write any day now. Was hoping to use Xara Designer Pro on it.
It uses the new Wacom Active ES Pen as input device.
My Wacom Intuos 4 works fine with Designer Pro on my desktop.
Re: Xara Designer Pro X9 AND Toshiba Encore 2 write tablet?
It's possible that this new Wacom device only supports the new standard Windows 8.1 pointers API, not the old Wacom-compatible API.
DPX9 (and all versions prior to the forthcoming version 11) only talk to the old Wacom API.

I just got a reply from the folks at Xara. Here is what they said:

Hi,
Please follow these steps carefully and only make the advised changes. Making other changes to your registry could cause stability issues with your operating system.
Close all Xara programs.
Go to Start -> Run (if you're using Windows Vista, 7 or 8 press the Windows key + R) and type regedit then click OK.
Navigate to this registry key (for Designer Pro X9 32 bit): HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Xara\XtremePro\9.2\Opti ons\Dragging
(if you're using the 64 bit version of Designer Pro X9 then the registry key location is HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Xara\XtremePro x64\9.2\Options\Dragging)
In the right pane, right click on the key 'EnableTouch' and select Modify.
Change the value to 0 and click OK.
Exit the regsitry and re-open Designer Pro.
Does that now work correctly for you?
Kindest regards

It may work on your current version. See the reply that I got from the folks at Xara for a workaround to make it work.
I will be trying this soon and see if it works.
Cheers!
