I still lurk at the neat stuff here.
Thought I'd post an up to date image of a
comercial range we are working on.
If I can figure out the new interface here....- David

Nice render and model, glad you figured out the new interface.
the ergonomics of the oven (expression?) is weird. It doesn't make sense to bend down to turn the knobs or press the buttons... so many things to improve and develop in the USA, and I can't get a H1 visa. You guys got a weird gov...

Randy,
the interface is a bit different now, but I kinda like it.
jens,
I agree we have some oddities.
The oven controls on the lower section are due to modular concepts by the manufactures. There are several combinations available.
Standard oven base
Convection oven base
Storage cabinet base
Refrigerated storage base
No base ( modular ) with legs for free standing application or no legs for placement on a stand provided by others.
All would have the same top configuration, so fewer changes are required to the top controls and or fabrication. Assembly line mentallity. Make the oven in 1 part of the plant, the top in another and marry them together in final assembly.
In reality, the oven is noramally set to 1 temprature and left there all day. Not very fuel efficent but you now how Americans are.
There are range styles that do incorprate the oven controls top side. There typically just aren't as many variable configurations for those.
