Changing the Windows 7 logon screen
For those people who like to tweak the Windows 7 GUI here's a handy free tool to change the standard, rather dull, Windows 7 blue logon screen:

It's especially useful for IT people who want to personalise or brand the Windows 7 logon screen of their company or customers' workstations. When done tastefully it can be a very effective marketing tool.
Re: Changing the Windows 7 logon screen
Cool. I am usually putting up the coffee while Windows loads, however.
Do you know of any sources for Windows 7 screen savers? The ones that come with Windows 7 are a very poor selection and I am reluctant to use a 3rd party screen saver because you never know what else is installed when you install one.
Re: Changing the Windows 7 logon screen
Gary - Here are some screen savers for Windows (not necessarily made for Windows 7, but they work fine under Win 7).
Really Slick Screensavers - These are free, and there are no added programs installed (none that I recall, anyway).
Seraline - These cost money, but they are pretty darn cool, IMO. The ones that use color cycling (Adrift, Seractal, and Seraline) don't seem to get along great with Win 7's Aero interface, but they work fine if you leave color cycling off. No extra stuff installed, either.
Re: Changing the Windows 7 logon screen
@Frank - Nice find.
Re: Screensavers.
Unless one likes hang around and to view pretty screensavers, I see no point in anything other than the Windows 'Blank' as a screensaver.
However, as an alternative every monitor manufacturer supplies the ultimate screen saver, the power button on the monitor.
Just sayin'...
Re: Changing the Windows 7 logon screen
if, like me, you live with someone who is not 'techie' a screensaver serves one useful purpose [and quite possibly an original one as opposed to just power down the monitor] which is to remind that user:
a] that the machine is still powered
b] that it should be shut down properly before it is switched off at the main
but it does not have to be 'pretty' agreed
Actually I have had some very good ideas occur whilst gazing at screensavers as well as open fires, sunsets, horizons, and simply out of the window - maybe that's just me...

Xara ScreenMaker 3D
Why not use this to make your own personalised screensaver?
Re: Changing the Windows 7 logon screen
 I see that Beretgascon has reverted back to his old alter ego. There is a big difference between 'Big Frank' and Beret, as visualized by his small and friendly avatar. It will need some getting used to...
Re: Changing the Windows 7 logon screen
I was fond of the penguin avatar it was... well, beret appealing..... [#-o]

I second that motion!
I was going to say that we seem to have gone off-topic but Big Frank didn't quite make it clear that he had done this.
I certainly would not have known without reading Boy's post. I just kept wondering who Big Frank is with 2868 post?!
So, the question is, "What is beretgascon trying to hide?"
He might as well come out and tell us because someone is bound to know, anyway!!!

Hi guys,
My two accounts are in the process of being married off. The animated penguin will return, as will references to my Béret, but for the time being I can't change those things. Barbara is a busy lady and anyway I'm in the throes of building a false wall this weekend so don't expect much from me soon!
A bientôt :thx
