Duplicate & Unpaired Tween errors
Hi,
I am no artist, but I do love the ease and accessibility of Xara Xtreme.
I've been a user of Xara/Computer Concepts products since BBC Micro days.
I'm trying to learn how to use the animation features in XXPro with an unlocked downloaded version. I'm trying to work through the tutorial: A Beginner's guide to Flash animations on the Xara Outsider web pages. http://www.xara.com/news/december06/tutorial.asp
I create a copy of Frame 1 and move the star on the second frame. When I try to preview as Flash I get a Flash Errors/Warnings dialog saying:
Frame 1: Duplicate tween name <star> of QuickShapes
Frame 1: Unpaired tween name <star> of QuickShapes
This can't be right. Even some of the examples I've just downloaded from this forum are giving similar errors.
Can anyone provide enlightenment, please.

Re: Duplicate & Unpaired Tween errors
Hi Geoff,
Welcome to Talkgraphics.
On Frame one did you name the star before making the copy of the frame?
If you then named the star again in frame two, then there would be a duplicate name and the stars would also be considered to be unpaired names.
I find it easiest to name all objects in frame 1, and copy frame to add more; that way the names are also copied along with the frame. Any allowed changes to an object (colour, size, rotation, etc) will result is tweening between frames.
Re: Duplicate & Unpaired Tween errors
Hi Bill,
Yes I named the star in Frame 1 before I copied it.
I'm currently trying another tutorial on http://www.xaraxone.com/webxealot/workbook54/page_5.htm
where I named three objects on Frame 1, then copied the frame, altered the objects and when I preview there are 6 errors and the preview is just a snapshot of the two frames, no tweening!
I'm wondering if my application is corrupted somehow. It did work when I first used it.

Re: Duplicate & Unpaired Tween errors
Geoff, I would think that a corrupt installation may have more problems, but anything is probably possible.
Try this file. Open it in Xtreme Pro and then try previewing the swf animation.

Hi Bill,
I could see the animation fine on the forum page but your xar animation fared no better than mine. The same error messages appeared and the animation was only the two static frames alternating.
So frustrating!
I've uploaded one of my attempts which is not behaving. Can you see if you get the same or not?

Re: Duplicate & Unpaired Tween errors
Geoff the animation works well on my machine.
Export to a swf and post that so we can compare the one I'm attaching to this post.
Re: Duplicate & Unpaired Tween errors
Works well for me also, no errors. Strange.
Re: Duplicate & Unpaired Tween errors
Good Morning Bill & Egg,
I suspected that you would not have a problem and that the problem is with my installation. I will try a re-install when I have a moment and get back to you.
Thanks
Geoff
Re: Duplicate & Unpaired Tween errors
Thank you all who tried to help but it was, as I suspected, a naf install. I reinstalled Xara Xtreme Pro and it is now working fine. No errors and properly exported Flash animations. Now I'll have to work on something to show you all.
I do appreciate your support with the tutorials and help on this forum. It's just like the old Acorn days.
Geoff

Glad to hear you have it sort, Geoff.
