I just wanted to post this here. Using Win98 I occasionally have problems with XaraX and I lose what I was working on. After reading about Windows XP stability I'm really interested. I just want to know what people using XaraX on winXP think .... should I upgrade or not ( I've checked my main hardware and software and there appears to be no problems with having winXP ... except I'd have to upgrade my nortons system works )

I like Win 2000 Pro myself. And remember, XP comes in 2 flavors, Home and Pro.

well I'd be interested in the home version as I'm not in need of the business features of the pro version. I'm not really interested in win2000 though. Anyway thanks for voting

After having XP for about a month, I have to say I'm thrilled with it! Even more reliable than 2000, in my opinion. Xara runs s-m-o-o-t-h, and NO problems whatsoever with it. Of course, your hardware better be pretty up-to-date....

My computer was bought about a year ago new ... since then I have added some components which are all new. I shouldn't have any hardware issues (famous last words )

I'm using Win98 as well and try to conform to the "Save Often and Save Early" mentality to combat the instabilities of Win98.
Several people here have spoken favorably of Win2000 and especially how well it works with XaraX. I personally want to avoid WinXP and MS.net etc.

I personally don't see too much of an issue with the .net password ... I already have one anyway ... and the registration thing I guess is the present best way that was thought to keep people from handing out pirate copies to their friends. I don't forsee a problem with me as long as it works. At least it's not to the point where you buy time using the OS .. yet

you remind me of myself. As soon as I think of a possible upgrade, and with further investigation discover that it has excellent potential, there's no stopping me from getting it. My lovely wife has learned to recognize when I am already sold on an idea, and resistance is futile.
In this case, I noticed the wording of your poll options, and foresaw that resistance would be futile. Also, as a happy upgrader from Win 98 to Win 2K, I can strongly recommend the improved stability of NT technology, which also forms the core of Win XP.
So waste no further time. Go for it.

heheh .. I guess that's true ... I have one problem. Norton's System Works 2001 won't be compatible with WinXP so I'd need to upgrade. The canadian symantek site doesn't show this as an upgrade to buy ... only from the US and I cringe at having software shipped from the US. I checked futureshop site and no upgrade just full Nortons' 2002. Since you're in Ontario do you know of any suggestions. I'll check the futureshop store and staples in person to see if they have upgrade versions. Or perhaps buying the full allows you to get an upgrade payment return.
