How To Make Full Legnth Header and Footer
Hi I would like to make a full length header and footer. But I don't know how to do so. Please give advice on how to do it.
I am using Design Pro X. I have searched the forum, and have not found a good answer. i have seen where people say to make a shape that extends past the page edge and uncheck the clip to page edge function, but that just creates a horizontal scroll bar in the browser. I have also seen where someone said to make a thin background picture the size of the page length and thin and then set it as a background picture , set to tile . But this is only good if the page length is the same, never changing.
I am looking for advice on how to make a header that stretches across the browser and also a footer that does so; and can be used as the page length changes. Please, let me know how. Thanks.

The best I can suggest is un-check Clip to page edges in Website Properties > Website.
Create your page in as wide a screen as possible and extend your header and footer to the maximum width. Designer your header as a repeating object and designate your footer a Footer (right click, Position on Page > Footer)
You will get a horizontal scroll bar but the page will center in the browser.
I'm sure someone else will have a better solution

This is the method I choose when creates sites in Xara. It's definitely a workaround, not an elegant solution at all, but I do it because it works and it's quick and easy.
But, I agree, it is not the optimal solution, far from it, especially if your site has fluid content, not fixed content.
I know you will get the optimal CSS-driven solution shortly, as I know it exists. I simply haven't the time today (still renovating that damn fireplace -has to be done before the weather starts to turn which is, frankly, not likely any time soon since today, once again, we will have temps in the 30's - a really bad time to do cementing... but that's a moan for another matrimonial forum!).

Luxury. Here in Placitas the temperature dropped from 98F to -20F overnight. I had to move the entire garage five feet due west because the Missus can't manage to get the car in in it's current location and keeps scraping the passenger side. And because she purchased one of those London double deckers—she says she can get more of her friends on board when they go to the casino for lunch and a pull at the slots, I have had to enlarge the opening as well.
And now that I have done all that whilst battling hypothermia in temperatures only a polar bear could appreciate, la petite femme informs me that the bus is too hard to maneuver on our dirt driveway and she has gotten rid of the bus and replaced it with a Smart Car—to hell with all her freeloading no good friends, let them find some other sucker to drive them around town, and so does she inquires does the opening for the garage have to be so big. And...

Re: How To Make Full Legnth Header and Footer
Keith,
I am not versed in using Xara for web sites. Even so, I had a play with the attached file. I can do the header, but cannot also incorporate the footer. That will take someone more versed in Xara for web sites than I am.
The attached uses a copy of the header region that I made 12 pixes wide, made a PNG image of that and then added code to the web site tab in the paste to header region. So it will appear on all pages added.
I can easily do both the header and footer in Dreamweaver and Expression web using DIVs. Even so, I couldn't easily do it in Xara.
You can also do this simply with color in Xara for the header, but the code is different and one needs to use DIVs. I can work up an example of that as well if desired.
Point here is the header graphic repeats, no scroll bars.
Take care, Mike

Mike, doing the header in Xara is easy. It's doing the header and footer in Xara allowing for fluid content that's the challenge. I can do it easily in DW using a 3-div layout, but transferring that to Xara is the challenge.

Best I could do was add a sticky footer.

Hi Mike, I originally posted this question on how to do an endless footer a few months back. I check out your file with the sticky footer and was wonder if you extended the height of the page, was there still a possibility of placing the footer at the very bottom like in the photo.
