layers influencing each other ?

I have a page "History" with 6 names, each carrying a link to a layer containing more information.
I have included an image on one of these layers and it seems to repel the text on ALL the other 5 layers. Can anyone please explain to a Web Designer novice what I am doing wrong.

I do not think you are doing anything wrong.

This seems to be a bug in how repel text works within Web Designer and Xtreme.
