Bug / Limitation with intersected photo
Hi,
can anyone imagine how I can successfully export this project?
In the attached file, there's
1. On the left, a photo that has been posterized by using a contone and a hard fill profile,
2. In the middle, a bunch of Janinas,
3. On the right The result of the intersection of the former two.
However, as soon as I zoom further into the view, the intersected result gets completely distorted and unusable - this happens even on export.
Seems to be a bug - has anyone ever seen this happen?
Thanks
Re: Bug / Limitation with intersected photo
you need to make a bitmap copy of your posterised photo and use that for the intersection
otherwise you run foul of xtreme's clipping [EDIT - by which I mean intersecting with a clipped photo is not a good way to do it IMO]
Re: Bug / Limitation with intersected photo
Right, that worked, thanks a lot!
Still, doesn't seem completely "kosher" to me ;-) Maybe an interesting file for the devs...
Re: Bug / Limitation with intersected photo
if you select your posterised clipped bitmap and open the bitmap tracer - you will see that as far as the tracer is concerned it is still the original color photo - to trace the posterised version, if you wanted to, you would need to make a bitmap copy first
something similar happens with intersecting a clipped photo I think
this is how it is with xtreme's non destructive editing - I make bitmap copy after bitmap copy after bitmap copy :D
they could scrap it for me - I keep originals anyway - but there you go, I guess it does have its uses every now and then >:)
Re: Bug / Limitation with intersected photo
Haha ;) Well, let's be fair, it works pretty OK most of the time.
In this case though, it seems to be a renderer bug, as it is dependant on zoom level. It seems like as soon as you zoom in beyond a certain level, the rendered resolution of the bitmap fill suddenly drops considerably. It is still basically 'intact' if you look close.
Re: Bug / Limitation with intersected photo
yes- true that there is a zoom dependant effect
could be the posterisation is not being interpreted correctly during the intersection of the original photo and the 'text shape'
switching to the fill tool verifies that the original photo is the fill as far as xtreme is concerned - maybe the xtreme renderer cannot cope?
Re: Bug / Limitation with intersected photo
Seems to me the vector shape with all the letters is a bit too heavy and the renderer lowers (some of) its internal resolution beyond a certain zoom level.
DEVS? :)
