Print options: How to set crop margins to 0,5cm
Hi,
I'd appreciate help.
When exporting PDF, I set "include crop and printer marks..." (snapshot below)
The default crop mark has 1cm in each margin (attached PDF).
However, I need crop mark having 0,5cm in each margin.
I tried to change it in "Print options", but couldn't find how to.
How to set crop margins to 0,5cm?
Thanks for assistance!
Carlos

Not configurable.
Why do they need to be?

I'm working on a book and the publisher requested 0,5 cm of bleed margin.
I'd like to send the book with the crop marks having the same 0,5 cm.
Re: Print options: How to set crop margins to 0,5cm
Just "worry" about setting the bleed how they want. If they are like the vast majority of publishers and print establishments, they are not going to actually use your crop marks, info, etc., that you set in the PDF. It gets stripped at the bleed amount and the imposition software uses its own marks and info. That's what I do as well in my imposition software with client files and did even back in the 1990s when working in pre-press.
Even when I have gotten files with an excessive amount of bleed, I clip it at what my press sheets need for efficient imposition. And if I get a PDF from a good client that doesn't have bleed but needs bled elements, if those are simple elements, I use pdfToolbox to add it in and repeat the bled elements. (Else I have them submit a new PDF...)

Thanks for all clarification mwenz!
Re: Print options: How to set crop margins to 0,5cm
You're most welcome, Carlos.
There are some print establishments that request/demand a certain length of crop marks. These are typically establishments that use either ID or QXP to impose work--they have no chance of easily removing them without imposition software, Acrobat or pdfToolbox. I've only run into this a couple times in way too many years. I have talked the clients into changing print providers.
Take care, Mike

When I was working at local print shop we just set our own crop marks to suit the jobs that we were doing. The reason why the strip out bleed and crop marks is that your file is printed out onto larger paper sizes multiple times in one pass. The print house normally would charge you a small fee for setting out your file and then cutting it to the crop marks.
