PaintShop Pro X4 and AfterShot Pro
At the Consumer Electronics Show a few weeks ago Corel announced the release of AfterShot Pro, a non-destructive RAW developer application for photographers. Corel is pushing PaintShop Pro as the editor to be used with ASP.
The intended workflow would be camera -> AfterShop Pro -> Output for Use or -> PaintShop Pro for additional editing -> AfterShop Pro -> Output for Use.
AfterShot Pro is actually Bibble Labs' Bibble 5, the last version released at the end of 2011. Corel purchased Bibble labs and rebranded (with some modification) it AfterShot Pro. It's available for Windows, Mac OS and Linux.
Bibble was the fastest RAW developer on the market, and that speed is evident in Corel AfterShot Pro.
Corel is offering owners of PSP, versions X2-X4 ASP at a discounted price.
Just what the actual impact on PSP will be remains to be seen.

Re: PaintShop Pro X4 and AfterShot Pro
I am hoping to see the return of the Bibble plugins, which at the moment don't work with AfterShot Pro, especially zPerspector. This is an excellent plugin for Perspective Correction.
AfterShot was a workflow utility started by Jasc but never saw the light of day until now.
I wish Corel well with this acquisition, I hope it doesn't meet the same fate as Paint Shop Pro after Corel took over.

So do I!
Some of the Bibble plugins have already been ported over and others are in the works.

Re: PaintShop Pro X4 and AfterShot Pro
Just to update this forum on AfterShot Pro...
A Corel representative reported today a patch containing bug fixes, new camera profiles and new plugins is scheduled for release in "several weeks." http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic....art=60#p243879
There are now more than 15 of the old Bibble plugins that have been ported over to ASP.
Corel PaintShop Pro is the default editor when you need to work in a photo editor that requires significant layer work or use of external plugins, for example. Sorry, it only works with X3 and X4.

Thanks Bob, it's all sorted now.
PS:
I hope you didn't get hit by that horrendous hurricane.

Corel has released the patch for AfterShot Pro. It's at http://www.corel.com/corel/pages/ind...1&ppid=4300004
As I indicated in my earlier post, it's set up so that PSP (X3 and X4) is the default external editor. For photographers shooting RAW and using Corel products, most will likely do the significant part of their processing work in ASP with PSP used for special jobs requiring 8b3 filters and/or multiple layer blending, masking, etc.
