Copy fill content from one shape to another
Hi Everybody,
I'm wondering if there is an easier way to do this?
I have two shapes, an "Oval" and a "Modified Rectangle".

I've managed several fills inside the "Oval" so that it looks like a jelly oval.
Now I want to fill the "Modified Rectangle" with the same fill.
I can follow the same steps inside the "Modified Rectangle",
(if I can even remember the steps and their order) but it would be so much
easier to simply copy the fill contents of one shape to another.
Can I even do that, or do the different shapes kill that thought? (Nothing found
in the PDF manual, so I'm wondering)
Re: Copy fill content from one shape to another
Have you tried Edit/Paste/Paste format/attributes?
Re: Copy fill content from one shape to another
On the oval, right-click > 'Copy' then on the rectangle, right-click, hover over 'Paste' and choose 'Paste Format/Attributes'
Re: Copy fill content from one shape to another
Great minds think alike, or, fools seldom differ?
Re: Copy fill content from one shape to another
It's all the same to me, Chris. But in this case, you added the right-click option making things easier for Paul B. :-)
Re: Copy fill content from one shape to another
Thank you, Chris M. and Boy
I did do that but the "Modified Rectangle" disappears? I can still see the outline if I select that area
but I can not find the contents.
Re: Copy fill content from one shape to another
Post a .xar file with these two objects so that we/others may have a look.

Re: Copy fill content from one shape to another
Ah, now I understand what the issue is. First of all, you talked about various fills you applied to the oval but actually there's only one fill, the gradient at the bottom of the group. The others are separate shapes. So, each time you C&P these, you lose the earlier pasted attributes.
I'm not sure what effect you're after but what you could do is duplicate the rectangle twice; apply the fill attributes to the original rectangle; C&P the attributes of the two other shapes into the two duplicates; and finally stack them. That will give you this effect:
Re: Copy fill content from one shape to another
Paul, the shape that has the Fills is actually a Group: you have one with a Fill and two Shapes with a Transparency.
You need to clone your target shapes to have the same number as the source and for each one:
Ctrl+C followed by Shift+Ctrl+A for a one-on-one match.
