Hi,
Xara has a lot of line styles, but not the one I need - I'd like a line style that is made of two parallel lines (think railway lines). Is there any way of getting new line styles into Xara?
Thanks,
Mike.

Yes you can create a 'Brush' in the style that you need.
You could even create the brush from a text equal character = or the Full Colon :

Hi
some discussion of parallel lines here:
http://www.talkgraphics.com/showthre...way+line+brush
Create a path or curve to the width you want it. Convert Line to Shape (Arrange menu). Remove ends with Shape Editor Tool.
If necessary, add small line segments if line overlaps itself.
Here's a railway line. I don't know really how describe making a brush so I attach the XAR file so you can pull it apart and work it out hopefully:
Or just use cloned lines of various line widths, then convert lines to shapes and fill as required. Blend the sleepers along the same line.
You can use the same technique for road maps.
See HERE
Cool video Egg :D
I'm not sure sure that the OP wants Railway lines though, I think he wanted parallel lines 'like a railway track'
By the way, did you know you can also use Ctrl+Y to redo (step back through your drawing) rather than pressing the redo button. ;)Quote:

Cheers Steve, same technique though.
Yes, I knew about the Ctrl Y bit but forgot about it. I could also have unshown the selection bound handles which would have made the video better. I think I'm at that stage in life where I've forgotten more than I knew in the first place
More roads if anyone's interested.
That's excellent Egg! :)
