The Color Editor has an eyedroper.
Import your Gif file, draw a shape and keep it selected, open the Color Editor (Ctrl+E) & make sure the RGB color mode is active, now drag the eyedropper from the Color Editor over the GIF file and pick a color. If you want, click on the "New Named Color" icon at the top of the Color Editor dialog and name the color which will cause it to be displayed in the color swatch at the bottom of the drawing window.
Thank you so much! I didn't realise it could be so easy.
It's actually even easier - the eye dropper can be used outside the Xara window - so it can pick up the colour from your pic in Explorer, for example.
For any new users who might not understand the suggestion, a picture is worth a 1000 words. Select your target object (the object to which you wish to copy the color). Open the Color Editor menu (Ctrl e)[/B]. Drag the eyedropper icon (The Color Picker) over to the object whose color you wish to copy. The target object will not be that color.

"I didn't realise it could be so easy."
Easy (simplicity) is the name of the game at Xara, Ltd. ... at least they do their darnest to hold to that objective.
